Eyelash Extensions!

You've seen thousands of women with eyelash extensions - nearly every female celebrity wears them.  You can *get* them so they look like a pair of personal attack spiders you conveniently wear on your eyes, but most women choose the ones that are natural length and prettily curled.

I have been getting them for years.  I hadn't had them refreshed for a couple of months because I figured my eyelashes would all fall out and it would be a waste of money.  But my eyelashes and eyebrows are fortunately on a different shedding schedule than the hair on my head so I did it and MAN, does it make a difference.  It makes your eyes just pop and I look, well, healthier.  Even with no hair!  Think about the bald women you've seen that have still looked attractive - they generally have big, doe-like eyes. 

That's what the eyelash extensions do for you. Only you don't have to put on any makeup at all - you wake up like that!  And you can swim, shower, etc.  And if your lashes are mine and don't curl, it's so nice to have the pretty curled thick lashes.

I just thought I'd post about it because some women don't know about them, especially if they don't live in urban areas.  The drawbacks are that it is often expensive, and the individual extensions are glued to your own eyelashes so you must have some - but it is a real blessing for women who have permanently sparse lashes.

I have them and I luv them! Yes! I've been told the same, that I look healthier. The initial cost for me was $120 and I went for my first "fill" after 4 weeks, the fill was $40. My stylist did the initial appointment in the privacy of my home, since it takes over 2 hours. The fill took about 45 minutes, went to her salon for that. She told me at the time of the fill that she sees lots of tiny lashes coming back and that I may only need one more fill, told her I might continue with the lashes because of the convenience of not having to apply and remove mascara and they are curled so nicely.

Aren't they great, Westiemom?  It's amazing how such a small thing makes such a big difference, it just draws the eye right to your pretty eyes!  This time I did a slightly more dramatic look, longer lashes than my natural ones.  I figured I could trim them if I felt like Lady Gaga, lol.  But it is a very nice look, doesn't look drag-queeny at all.

Hi Pam. They are great. I did the same the 2nd time, just a tad bid more dramatic. I told my stylist "I want more more more!"

Okay, don't want to sound ignorant, but what kind of salon do you go to for this procedure?  Thanks in advance for the info

You don't sound ignorant at all, a lot of people don't know about them and it can be hard to find someone in your area that does them.  Personally I searched it on the net for my area ("eyelash extensions yourhometown").

any reccomendations around orlando?  I can't find thrm under $200.

I think the closer you are to a major city like Orlando, the more expensive they are.  Here is one that charges 150 for first set:  http://www.blushdayspa.com/day-spa-services/brow-and-eyelash/

But, you might do better by googling some small towns around where you live.  I travel 45 mins one way, but paid $75 for first, $40 for fill, and it is a flawless job, someone who does it out of her house and does eyelashes almost exclusively.

BTW ladies, I had a strange man tell me I had the most beautiful eyes yesterday.    Yes I do!  They're mine, I paid for them!!!

Absolutely, Adey!!  I can't say the loss of hair on my head is saving me any money quite yet; I bought 5 wigs so far.  Well, 4.  One of them I got for free and it has a kind of 70's country music star look to it.  Amusing sure, but I ain't 'zackly wearing it to Krogers, if you know what I mean.  

But the other ones...got a medium razor cut brown with caramel highlights, a short blonde kinda spikey one, a long strawberry blonde with curls and a long straight in dark blonde.  I will often wear two in a day.  Having a blast with them!

I bought 4 wigs, long and wavy red (I named Raquel), dark brown bob (I call it 99), short spikeyish blond (me), and pink (for fun) for a total of $250.00!  They are fun to put on and take a photo then get very annoying and come off.  I much prefer scarves, hats and bald.  (c:

Awesome Adey!  I agree with the wigs but am wearing them anyway because a) I paid for them and b) when I *want* to wear them I want to feel as comfortable and natural as possible doing so.  You know, so I'm not wearing my "ask me about my cancer!" button, so to speak.  

Tomorrow I am going to a salon who has not one but three wig specialists - they teach the 'look good feel better' program at local cancer centers.  The stylist I met today is going to cut the bangs on all the wigs and teach me a bit about wearing them and such - like how do you avoid the itch as much as possible, and what makes the wigs stay on peach fuzzy stuff!  You can clip it to your hair or tape it to your scalp but "fuzzy baby chick hair" is a challenge!

Paminwv- Even my own hair bugged me and I am very lazy when it come to styling.  I should have just bought one wig but oh well.  I've been wearing hats and scarves or just fuzzy stuff (which helps hold on scarves).  (c:  I think I might do the eyelash extensions for December.  Have a great Saturday.

I was told today I can’t get my eyelashes extension anymore by the spa I was going to until I bring her a dr note. So for now she’s refusing service is that normal. I am new to all this

Monkey, FYI, this thread is pretty old--the post right before yours was written in 2010. You might not get much conversation.

But what you said kinda punched my "peeved" button. Requiring a doctor's note? Do they require a doctor's note for everyone, or just you?
