Where to turn

Options

We have been living check to check for a long time and since double mx the bills are putting me totally over the edge.  I am considering no longer going for PT because of the amount of copay.  $40 a week ads up quickly when you are check to check prior to the $40 a copay.

My husband and I both work and do ok, we just have too many other expenses.  No one tells you to wipe away all debt before you get Breast Cancer so you can afford life.

I do not want to give up PT because it has helped me so much and I want to continue to recover and get this behind me.

What have you done to help ease the pain of bills when you do not qualify for state help.  We are in IL.  I do not want to ask family for money, very awkard situation.  Everyone says you are paying for great care and doing the right thing, too bad they do not realize breast cancer will not kill me it is the stress of working, being sick, kids and paying all the bills.

 Not sure what to do.....

Notsure ... I am so sorry to hear of your situation ... we are in the same place.

The only way we could survive was to sell the Harley, the riding mower and the tiller.  I also got rid of our home phone and canceled as many things as I could.  I canceled the trash pickup and we take it ourselves now.  I got rid of the premium channels on T.V.  And we quit using the credit cards as best we could.  I also canceled the monthly exterminator service.

We also applied for a mortgage modification through the Making Home Affordable program.  If your expenses are over 31% of your income, you may qualify to have your mortgage lowered.  They lower the interest rate and extend the life of your mortgage to compensate.

I wish you all the best and hope you get some financial relief.
