So I'm getting ready to start this combo next week and am wondering if anyone else has had these 2 together.   Thanks Jill

Doxil = trade name for doxirubicin. It's an anthracycline, like Adriamycin

Frankly I've never heard of just AH ( or just DH). In fact many oncs are moving away from combining anthracyclines and Herceptin because of the increased heart risk. Have you had a baseline MUGA or echocardiogram yet?

love- I had a muga scan yesterday. My onc said he will monitor me closely and said we should be able to see if it is working after 2 treatments. I had TAC followed by Herceptin 5 years ago. I just pray this treatment does the trick.  Jill

Ah, good. I didn't realize you'd already had TAC/H before (thought this was your first go-round!). To be honest I was a little puzzled at them using DH for node-negative Stage II right off the bat like that, since most newbies seem to be given either Taxotere/C/H or Taxol/H nowadays.

Glad you're getting the MUGAs too, instead of just an echo. Sounds like your onc is cautious which is great.

Best of luck and good wishes to you on the new regimen!

thanks Love- I had my first treatment today and all went well. (so far). I decided to do the herceptin weekly instead of every 3 weeks. The onc nurse thought that having a lower dose weekly may help to handle the se's of the Doxil a little easier. Muga scan was good 63%.

Thanks for the well wishes :)

    Jill
