NC & Border States Support Group

Good morning folks.  I don't know if a topic like this already exists but if it does, please just point me to the thread.

I know there are a few of us from NC but there may not be enough of us in NC to actually constitute a "group",  Perhaps, if we include VA, SC, KY, & TN??

Anyway, I've had a folks in my treatment team tell me that I should consider joining a BC support group.  It occurred to me that maybe some of you would like to create our own group.  It might be better to open it up to all Stages, then again, maybe not.

Any interest?

Where in NC do you live. The hospital here (Caldwell County) has a support group that I attend every month.

    Hi there!

I am in Raleigh.  I don't really do the support group thing, but a friend of mine attends a BC group at Duke Raleigh Hospital on Wake Forest Road and she LOVES it.

Also, if you have younger children,  there is a KidsCan program at Rex Hospital which is a support group for kids and the parents meet separately.  Watch out for that one, though.  It is for children of parents with all kinds of cancer.  One mom passed away shortly after we started and another 2 or 3 were certainly heading in that direction.  I used to tell my husband that the only time I thought I was going to die from cancer was when I went to support group!  It's one of the things that made me shy away.  Fortunately, my daughter's interest in it went away when they stopped serving the pizza and subs beforehand, lol.  Still, it's a really great group if you can handle it.

    Where were you treated?

    Best of luck to you!

I am in Cary but I don't do support goups:) I would love to meet up for coffee though. I do no your oncologist ( as you know) and he has info about the support groups at Rex. But yes be prepared for some sad situations ... I found that the support group had a lot of stage 1 or 4 girls but that might have just been the day.
