Any one has an answer

Hi all,

I am diagnosed with BC (IDC) probably paget's disease of the nipple. I want to know is there any standard rule regarding the possibility of cancer mets? In other words women who are diagnosed with BC what are the likely sites to which cancer can mets? Is there a known order like Liver, Stomach, brain, lung or there is NO obsolute rule to that? Does it differ according to each person, or depending on the cancer type if DCI or IDC then the likely hood will be known?

As for patients with Paget's disease any known relation to sites or organs and cancer mets.

Is there a known time frame after which your expectancy will increase?

Another question will chemo block any possibility of cancer mets during chemo? I mean can the cancer mets during chemo? Does that relate to the effectivness of the chemo?

Thanks

There are no absolute rules on whether you get mets or not.  The most common locations are bones, liver, lungs, brain.  There is no order of location where it shows up first.  If you have undiagnosed mets (i.e., too small to show up in a scan) the chemo you're on will get rid of it if your body responds to that chemo.  You can get mets during chemo if your body isn't/stops responding to it but for the first treatment/diagnosis I think it is rare.

If you have mets, the ideal is that you get rid of all the cancer.  However, often Stage IV means that you just try to be stable or get some shrinkage of your tumours.  Eventually a chemo will stop working and then you have to try another.  Some people manage to be disease free or stable for years.  I hope this helps.
