FREE MAMMOS
Ok , in our area , our local hospital is giving FREE mammos to ANYBODY throughout OCT. Call your local area hospital and see... it IS October!
Also, I agree, I sometimes REALLY think the 0 ins is the best bet.
Sad :>(
Good Luck !!!!! -
I have another work trip tomorrow. Thirteen hours from door to door. Two flights to get from NE Ohio to San Francisco. And... still have that anxiety about traveling. I have had several successful flights and no reason to believe this one will not be the same. It's the dang Aromasin - it causes the anxiety. Already taking pills to fight anxiety. Argh.
Just want to work from home and only travel where I can drive.
But... we don't always get our wishes so off to finish packing.
-
ohio4me, I really wanted to go see my sister this summer but I didn't because of the 5 hour flight time and my arm. I was just too afraid to do it. I"m glad to hear you've been flying and been ok. That gives me more encouragement that I could get on a plane again. Have a safe trip.
Insurance stuff drives me nuts. I spent hours trying to figure out how they came up with the amounts for the co-insurance part I have to pay. It didn't add up. Turned out the cancer center is considered a different 'option level' so I pay 25% on those bills where at my local hospital/doctors I only pay the 20%. ...only. It adds up so fast its crazy.
-
Bon voyage ohio...pray you have a good flight !
-
Ohio Have a safe and wonderful trip....I used to live an hour south of San Francisco... really don't like that city but we would take all our exchange students there and they loved it... Great place to visit, but wouldn't want to live there...

When do you decide the "hole in the breast scar" issue is too much? After the big blow out last friday, when it blew the whole scab off and started a little pin hole leak next to it, I am at my wits end - I know - better out than in.. it hurts but not swollen or hot. It is getting to be a cycle - second one was 10 day before it blew and this last one was 12 days before... right after some activity with arm movements. encouragement.... are you out there?... Breast/truncal LE stinks on top of it - upper arms are still swollen too.. GRRRRRRRRRRRR
-
Botty- a lot of us hurt when there are barometric pressure changes that come with storms and cold fronts and warm fronts. The worst pain I've had in my arm is when there have been tornados nearby....huge drop in pressure.
-
just got back from a girls trip to mexico and arm was aweful on the flight there. so much so that I am really considering traveling for my recon (12 hours away) by car. Anyone have any thoughts on this as to whether I should fly (have free tix) or drive. Not a non stop flight and will take about 8 hours from start to finish with LE and tubes sticking out of me or 12 hours broke over 2 days and taking our time ...tough decision.

HELP!!!
Someone say something to sooth my soul!!! OMG!!!!! My leak was caused by a seroma...He decided to cauterize it with silver nitrate... as he started (after numbing me) he says, "its a little deeper and bigger than I thought.." I can't believed I watched this process... I now have a gaping hole and as the numbing stuff is wearing off, there pain to go with it... I would like some confirmation from the peanut gallery please: Pain = Swelling so head off the pain and take something now before it gets worse???? Correct????? BS said that cauterizing it might work, if not we will have to take more drastic steps...I see him next week to check on it. I shouldn't have peeked at it just now. Nasty, nasty, nasty.. pain pill here I come...
-
Personally, Gma, I would go for the pain pill, too. So sorry you had to experience this. My stomach feels a bit queasy just reading your post. I hope all begins to heal and no further steps needed by your BS. Hugs to you!

Just because this is a general meeting place, I wanted to alert all of you to what's going on in the Clothing Design Challenges with Lymphedema thread. Please head over there and add your ideas to the design challenge that we're discussing with LympheDivas. It's not every day we have the opportunity to speak up about our own wants, and this one is fun.
Enjoy!

Gma, how in the world ARE you today?! Did you get any sleep? Worried 'bout ya'!
Binney -
I have a 1" wide 2 or 3" deep gaping black hole in my breast - How do you think I am???
Sorry not feeling very good and crying all day... I have someone coming to take me to a support group meeting (I need that right now) and get my result paperwork from my oximetry test...Looks like it is so bad, I have to do a sleep study.. Taking pain meds - the breast is very unhappy, but the rest of the swelling in the trunk and upper arms are somewhat in control.. BS said I can do the MLD as long as I go around the breast area so the trunk doesn't get swollen.. not sure if that is a good idea - what do you think Binney???
GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR and double GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR - I wish I could run away and hide - Unfortunately It doesn't work that way and I am stuck in this situation.... Hope all you have a better day than me....
-
Gma, I'd give it a couple days before I'd mess with it. But in the meantime stay really well hydrated and do some deep breathing, and REST. Your body has a lot of work to do just to heal. Activity generates more lymph fluid, y'know?
Hope the support group is a help. Get well, y'hear?!
Prayers,
Binney -
GMA
So glad you are getting to the support group. Please take your pain meds as needed - every one of them. No need to suffer any more than you 'will' (sigh)
Binney is right- rest and deep breathing and plain ole water is probably your smartest move right now.... perhaps toss in some gentle music and an extra pillow.
Feel free to PM me about the oximetry test if you like----I have had many with lung disease.
(((HUGS)))
-
GMA - I had a hole open up after my exchange surgery. I had tried to do too much too quickly. The ONLY thing that helped it heal was rest.
-
GMA--hugs to you love...please try to rest...this is hard enough without the extra complications...hope you get some relief from this soon

I called my boss at the fabric store. I'm not working this week. Think all you wonderful ladies are right. Resting.
-
Gma, good for you! I'm really sorry about the loss of income--this kind of thing really puts us in a bind. But you're absolutely right that it's time to take care of YOU!
Get well soon!
Gentle, gentle hugs,
Binney -
Gma, I am routin for you gal! Rest is so restorative so go for it!
-
Just not in the mood to put on sleeves this morning for my computer work... I should though - just not yet - crying again...
-
((((Gma)))) It's difficult to always keep a stiff upper lip. Rest as well as you can. This too shall pass, eventually.
-
Marple - I have had such a domino effect of events and now my open wound and then the sleep apnea (I had a total of 489 decompressive events in one night .. need a Cpap machine i guess... ) I really don't see and end to it - guess the pain and frustration is talking..
I hate BC and LE..... my elbow area is swelling on my bad side ... I really need someone to talk to... back to computer work.. Love you ladies.. thanks for being here for me..
-
GRM--if we were not on opposite sides of the country, I would drive over, pick you up for a good relaxing trip to a park, you doing as little as possible but just yacking away~~
hope you feel better soon, rest!
-
I'm sorry you are having such a tough time. Don't try to beat this all at once. Baby steps. And the first step is to rest and heal... ((hug))
-
We are just a mouse-click away GMA!
Take Care. -
GMA, Once you get the CPAP machine you will feel so much better. I have witnessed my co worker falling asleep during work. Once she got the machine she hasn't fallen asleep once. She says she feels WAY better. My other friends husband got a machine and within 2 weeks the wife said he is a totally different person. He is easier to live with and happier.
I am a chronic insomniac so I know what feelings no sleep comes with. You just want to crawl in a hole to get some sleep but life is demanding you to pay attention. Once you get that machine you are going to have lifted spirits very quickly. With all that is going on with holey breast etc. no doubt your depressed but a lack of proper sleep will make you feel that way more so. So I predict that things will be better for you in the near future. Just hang on babe!
Stick with us!

Ladies someone must have said, "things can't get any worse" Things just got worse.... The red has appeared circle drawn but went to the surgeon this morning... infection has started... he gave me an antibiotic cream and a z-pac. told me to try the cream first and if it seems to be getting worse start the z-pac... With the LE issue in that breast, do you REALLY think I should wait on the z-pac?????
