Treatment After Radiation

Options

Ladies,

Please share what your treatment plan is once radiation is completed?  My rad onc has indicated he will follow me for several years after I complete my radiation on 10/28.  I'd like to know what your rad onc has suggested for your going forward treatment.

Stage 0 - Grade 3 DCIS - Lumpectomy perfomed on 7/19.  28 radiation treatments to be completed by 10/28.

My Rad Onc said he'd see me in a month, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months after treatment. But he must sense that I don't like him; so he said that if I was being followed by my breast surgeon and oncologist, I don't need to see him again. I'll be having hormone therapy, so I'll be seeing my oncologist for at least 5 years and will not return to see the Rad Onc.

When I see my Rad Onc during treatment, all is does is ask to see my skin and then make notes in my chart. When I ask questions, he's skimpy with information. The day of my last treatment, I plan to wave goodbye to the techs and walk out the door without going to see the doctor. Can't wait.

I will see my med onc every 3 months for a year, then every 6 months for the next 2 years then once a year until 5 years. The rad onc I am seeing tomorrow and since I can't stand him, am telling him sayonara then.

I'll be seeing one or the other of my doctors (surgeon, chemo-onc, rads-onc) every 3 months for the first year, then every 6 months until the 5 year mark. They report to each other to try to reduce appointment load, but I am always welcome to see any one of them - just have to call.
