Booster Treatments Or Not for DCIS

Options

I'm curious if anyone has not had to have the booster treatments after undergoing 6 weeks of rad treatment for DCIS.

 Thanks!

I didnt want any boost treatment after I had 5 weeks of common...I think that I dont need boost because DCIS is very sensitive on rad.therapy without any boost. All best with your decision.

My rad.onc. had originally prescribed 28 regular/full breast followed by 5 boosts, but then shortened it to 25 regular and 5 boosts (think there's some grey area where each dr. prescribes within a guideline but based on their own training). She was insistent upon the boosts, and truthfully, for my particular situation, I was glad about that because in my final lump.pathology there was an unexpected 1.75 mm of idc detected among the dcis and it's former area was included in the boost zone. I did ask her point blank if my rad. treatments had been changed due to the idc and she stated that it hadn't (just didn't want to mislead you because yours thankfully is all dcis, and thankfully my idc was very small).

Wouldn't be at all concerend of the boosts -- they were easy to take, and it was nice to give my full breast a break as it was looking pretty red by the end. Yes, it's nice to have 1 less week of visits, but oddly enough, it's also comforting to be kicking bc in the @#$. Everything healed up nicely within about 10 days of zaps ending, and now that I'm 6 months out, there's only the faintest of tan showing. For me, it was worth it for the added protection.

Hi,  Yes I had 23 full breast and 7 boosts for DCIS.  I have no idea why they do the boosts, but they were very easy.
