    Hello everyone,

I was diagnosed with IDC in September also. I had lumpectomy with SN on 10/1. Originally SN negative but pathology later decided one was positive. Axillary dissection 10/15 with 4 more positive nodes. Total 5 positive of 17. This makes me a stage IIIa. Mediport insertion last week and started chemo with AC today. I'll have 12 weeks of AC then 12 weeks of Taxol, radiation and the hormonal therapy. Chemo today was easier than expected and I feel pretty good tonight. Hope it holds! I am a hospital pharmacist in San Antonio Tx. It's so nice to be able to talk to some women who are going thru this too. Hope to get to know you all. Love, Rose

Nice to catch up with everyone.  It has been a crazy few months.  Had left mastectomy end of September.  My BRCA was negative, Vit D is in the tank and I'm on mega dose for 3 months, and Dexa showed beginning osteoporosis.  Saw 3 different oncs and decided on one.  My oncotype came in at 13, so chemo wouldn't benefit me.  Am supposed to start Arimidex.  Got the rx filled but wanted to wait until after Thanksgiving to start.  Trying to incorporate new diet & exercise routine.  Let's see - what else?  Still doing arm exercises - the physical therapist said to continue those for several more months until there is no pulling at all.  She said one day you'll know you don't need to do them anymore.  I'm thinking about doing right prophy in the spring as I just don't want to worry about it forever.  I would have done a bi-lateral to begin with, but had just had an appendectomy before the diagnosis and didn't want to push my luck with another long surgery.

Hope everyone is off to a good holiday season!

I am doing great! Lost all my hair this weekend but it's not so bad. I even look cute bald. I thought it would be awful and am relieved to find it not such a big deal. Next round of chemo this Friday.

SA Rose-glad things are going great and that you look cute bald.  I did not have chemo but just started rads.  I will go for #4 today.  Will have 34 total.  I live an hour east of you in Gonzales.  I am being treated in New Braunfels.  There are a great bunch of Dr's. there.  Hope everything continues well for you.

    Hi Ladies,

I found this site by accident and so glad I did. I was diagnosed on October 12, 2010 with IDC, 1.8 cm, Stage 1, grade 3, ER PR + HER -. I had left breast mastectomy on Dec 9 with SNB on three nodes. Initial result was negative on SNB but after more testing one node was positive for micromets and no clear margin. Another surgery was scheduled on Dec 29 for reincision and for more lymph nodes. Took four more LN. All came back negative. My onc requested Oncotype Dx test and my score came back at 22 which puts me in the intermediate risk.

What do you think should I consider? Chemo and meeds or just meds. I am in a dilemma. Can anyone give me more light as to what I should do.

I am 59 yrs old, no young children but would like to be around to see grandkids.

    Thanks.

Ping I am kinda in the same delima as you.  I was diag in Sept and my onco score is 23.  My MO said he did not think chemo would benefit me enough but I am not crazy about him and am in the process of getting a new MO.  My appt is Feb 15th.  If the new MO tells me the same thing I will feel OK about it.  I have already done rads so I don't know how that will effect things.  I would suggest you get a second opion from another doctor not associated with this one.  Wish I had done that before rads.

Thanks Sherry, I am more inclined to do chemo with the result size, grade and micromets. I will let you know. The doc will call me today.

Hi raincitygirl , thanks for the info. I will take everything you said into consideration. It is really difficult. I emailed my doctor about my decision to have chemo but I am still deciding....

Sherryc, I am going to have chemo. I decided to have it and not look back. I will have AC 4x for 12 weeks cycle. Kinda anxious right now but I have to be positive. Ttl.
