My 16 yr old son has been fast tracked to a breast clinic to have a painful lump behind his left nipple checked out and as his Mum, I am thinking the possibilities of BC.  His nipple is slightly swollen and the lump can be felt.  Am I being over sensitive about his lump or is the possibility of it being BC real?

It is always good to be cautious and have it checked out. But my sons

all had something like that in relationship to male puberty and nothing

     about cancer...

always good to have it check out. I agree with SoCalLisa I am sure it is in connection to puberty and it is a lymph node.

my son had a lump at age 13 and it was nothing,  our pediatrician gave it a specific name (can't remember) and it was associated with puberty.  At the time I was going through chemo and was terrified that it was BC and that I had passed on a heriditary condition.  His MD took my concerns seriously but was convinced it was nothing to worry about.  Apparently breast lumps in boys that age (12-16) are common.  It went away a couple months later...
