REMEMBER WHEN......
"My favorite childhood memory" gave me the thought as well as some of those emails we get every now and then that remind of us the past.......... Televisions didn't have remote controls, microwaves weren't in every home and knee pads weren't required to ride a bicylce. Because we are all different in age I thought it would be fun to see what we could come up with and at the same time go back in time and smile.
REMEMBER WHEN........
you were expected to be home by the time the street lights came on
the television stations actually went off air by playing the National Anthem
the games you played with your friends were either outside or board games

Car seats were just cute little booster chairs hanging over the back of the seat with a play steering wheel and horn
Most kids had their mom and dads still together and living as a family
Most moms could stay home and live off of their husbands salary
Principals and teachers could discipline out of control children without getting fired
People didn't use credit cards, if they couldn't afford it with cash they waited
Girls sat in the middle of the seat when on a date with their boyfriend
You could go out to eat or shop without all of the people around you talking on their cell phone
No video games or computers for kids to sit at and just get fat
You could say "Merry Christmas" and have Christmas programs in the schools without offending someone
People wore nice clothes to church on Sundays
Kids could walk downtown without worrying about strangers
Everyone spoke English in our country or were learning to
Oh how things have changed...some for the better ....most for the worse.

You spoke of no remote controls for TV, how about the TV itself. Big hurkin cabinet, lots of tubes that needed replaceing, smaller round screen, black and white pictures and only 2 to 4 channels, Boy is MY age showing. Everyone had party lines with their phone service. When you got in trouble at school it was a double whammy, punished at school and home because your parents knew about it before you got home.

Remember when..........
Beta was the "it" thing
T.V. dinners came in foil trays
MTV hit the air waves..........the slogan was "I want my MTV"
-
You (or your parents) made popcorn in either a popcorn popper or in a pot on top of the stove
You did math without a calculator
Computers were massive machines and personal computers were not thought of
You had bomb drills in school and some people built fallout shelters
Edward R. Murrow did "Person to Person"
We wore dresses to school and only boys wore blue jeans
You had to get a typhoid shot before you could go swimming in the summer at a lake

Children played outside unless the weather was AWFUL.
You didn't make a "play date", you just went to your friend's house, knocked on the door, and said, Can Barbara come out and play?"

Remember when.......
