Did anyone go through chemo who has diabetes and heart disease?

Options

The reason I'm asking is this.  I've been through chemo.  But I was 51.  My mom may have cancer.  It's not breast cancer.  It's myeloma.  They think.  But my concern is this.  She's 78.  She's insulin dependent diabetic, and she's had one heart attack.  I'm wondering if there are any older women in this group who had similar health problems and still underwent chemo, and if you did, how did they handle your diabetes and how did you fare with chemo?

The answer to your question would best be answered by an expert. Depending on the age factor and the treatment or the medication given for chemo, the risk factor could be worked out. If there are some medicines that could affect the heart or ailments related to the heart, they could be supplemented or eliminated. The dosage could also change. All of this can be ascertained only by a good doctor. Why don’t you have a look at the cardiovascular programs in NJ? The Jersey Shore University Medical Center runs several facilities and advanced tests. They also provide expert guidance in consultation with any current treatment plan. Wish you the best.
