Dr. Brown
Hi, I have app to see Dr. Brown for prophylactic mastectomy ( nipple/skin sparring) with one step recon with AlloDerm. Is there is anybody who had surgery done by Dr. Brown? Would you please share your experience?

BRCA1 - I notice that no one has responded to you so I shall! I haven't experienced surgery by Dr. Mitch Brown, but a friend had breast reduction surgery some 15 years ago and she was singing his praises way back then! So, with another 15 years of surgical experience, I feel sure you're in good hands. He is well-known for excellent breast surgery, and I'm sure he will tell you exactly how he's going to do the one-step with alloderm. Just ask him how many he has done and also ask to see the results (these docs take lots of pics).
Good luck! Linda

Thanks for the reply. I think he had done only 20 surgeries with AlloDerm, which is not a lot , right? From what I heard he is very good .

My sister had AlloDerm surgery with Dr Brown last year. If you would like to send me a private message I could put you in touch with her....
She was happy with her choice, and has a good cosmetic result!

I know someone who had a BMX with him. She was thrilled. He's supposed to be wonderful. Just a note . . Alloderm is only used as part of a study here. So although you are part of the study, only 50% of the people actually get the Alloderm. They have some other rules such as you can't have radiation, can't have allergies to certain antibiotics etc. I'm part of the study too but the luck of the draw had me on the wrong end of the study .. . I get to fill out paperwork but wasn't chosen to actually get the Alloderm

BRCA1 -- Great news indeed! Is Dr. Brown doing your surgery, or will it be Dr. Zhong?
-
It will be Dr. Brown, I had consultation with him and he is great. Now I a m looking for breast surgeon who will agree to make incision under the breast , not around nipple and on the side of breast. I see a lot of woman had it done this way in US , so is gotta be somebody here who will do it for me.

I am another very satisfied patient of Dr. Brown. I had a left mx on November 4th with Alloderm and tissue expanders. Radiation has now come into the equation but the rad onc is leaving the decision up to me. If I have rads then we would have to do an entirely new type of reconstruction.

Don't know if you have had your surgery or not. I had Dr. Brown do my Alloderm implant.( I was one of the first to particpate in the study) Dr. Brown worked with Dr. Jamie Escallon. He used the incision from my lumpectomy along the bottom of my breast and also agreed to keep my nipple.
Both surgeons are worth their weight in gold and more.
