    Hi Jennifer,

I see that no one has answered your post so I thought I'd help you out - you sound a bit frantic, as everyone usually is when they don't have all the answers!  When you have seen an onc and have a plan in place, you'll feel much better.  I was also multifocal - 4.6 cm IDC & 4.1 DCIS and had a mastectomy.  From the sounds of things you had a small stage 1 cancer and are node negative - great news!   I believe that some oncs don't bother to do the Oncotype test if you are HER2 positive because it's almost always recommended to have chemo anyway.  However, you had small tumors, so I really don't know what your onc would recommend for you.

My cancer was HER2 positive so I did chemo, and because of my tumor size, also radiation.  It really is doable - I even worked throughout my treatment, only taking the infusion days off from work.

So, please don't worry too much - you have the surgery over with and in a few days you'll know more about your treatment plan.  And many other women will respond to your post soon with more advice.

Did you go to Roswell?  My husband's family lives in the Buffalo area and you are the same age as my oldest daughter, also called Jennifer. I worry about their increased risk - now they have a strong family history too (my sister had breast cancer 8 years ago & is doing great).  Take care and be strong.

thanks so much for your response, i actually did not go to Roswell because i was on a very long wait list and wanted the surgery over with so i have been with  very well known doctors that are private. i am considering a second opinon with roswell since i am fortunate enough to have it so close. i go through waves of feeling blessed to have found this so soon and then fear bc i have everything showing up as a grade 3 which scares me. i also have a seven month old baby at home and just want to know for certain that i will be here with him for a long long time and hopefuly have more children. it is crazy how life just throws things at you when you least expect it but ill hang in there and get through it! thanks again for you post! :)

Hi JP, I wonder if you are confusing grade 3 with stage 3?  Not that it is not scary, everyone here has been where you are!  But grade is NOT the same as stage.  Grade has to do with how different the cancer cells are from regular cells, nothing to do with how far advanced the cancer was.  The breast surgeon should have a full pathology report a few days after surgery.  The oncologist will calculate wether you would benefit from chemo or if you will just have pills or if radiaton is indicated.

Once you have a treatment plan in place, you will most likely feel lot better.  Hang in there!
