newbcny - there is only one person who posted on this thread that is still active on this site and it is not the OP, and this is a very old thread. You can check to see member activity by clicking on the member name and seeing when they last logged in. That will help tell you whether they are likely to respond to any question you might have.

Very interesting to read all the other ages/dx experiences. I am Scandinavian, 48, breastfed for two years and gave birth in my 30s. I have also tested positive for a more "recently discovered" cancer gene-RADc51. My tumor was almost 50 mm and I had many positive nodes. Right mastectomy and nodes removed, clear margins, and this week I start round 3 of AC chemo.

I haven't read of anyone with my dx surviving long term, so I plan to be the first. I have a family and job I love and will do whatever it takes.

Wishing each and every one of you TNBC sisters hope and support

After reading all these posts, I felt the need to respond. I don't fit the profile either if you look at me. Soooo I did some background checking on my family. I'm the first on either side that I know of who has had breast cancer. My great grandfather came from Syria. He had blue eyes and dark skin. His skin was so dark he was not considered white. He came from the Village of Karoun. Who knows his full heritage! My grandmother, his daughter looked white as her mother was Scottish. There were about 10 siblings and some of them were darker, very dark and all had blue eyes. If I had not asked, I would not know that my heritage is very diverse. It's so very possible we fit the profile and don't know it. I later learned my great grandmother was disowned by her family for marrying a dark man. No one ever spoke about it either.

The Middle East is a big part of American heritage. We all came from somewhere...

I was diagnosed ER-, PR-, HER2+ in May at age 61, then triple negative according to the surgical pathology report from my 7/14 lumpectomy. As far as I know, one great aunt with breast cancer, but I don't know any specifics. I'm Caucasian (Irish, Norwegian, German), never pregnant, menopause at age 48.

    • I'm 42 years old was diagnosed in 2006 with stage 3 grade 3 breast cancer. I have the BRCA gene and had a DIEP mascetomy in 2010. In May this year I found out I was pregnant not any part of my plans but it has happened naturally we are very happy...however in May my CA 125 blood test for ovarian cancer was elevated. Since then I have had an abdominal and pelvic scan which showed no abnormalities which is promising but the blood test is still raised. Still being investigated for ovarian cancer..currently 12 weeks pregnant. Has anyone had similar experience I'm looking for support and guidance..Smile I have already spoken with my doctor and have a suggested plan for delivery. Thanks in advance.

Hasnade, I wonder if you might get a better response if you pose your question as a new topic with pregnancy in the subject line? I hope everything turns out well for both you and the little one.
