I am scared - has anyone experienced this
I didn't know where to go, but I am freaking out. I am BRCA 1 positive, I have had BC twice, once on the left in 2000, age 35, IDC, TN, 0/13 nodes; and then in 2006 on the right side, age 41, IDC, TN, 1/13 nodes. I didnt have the genetic testing until after the second BC. So, in 2007 I had a total hysterectomy. In 2008, I had a bilat mx with TRAM reconstruction. I figured, I had done all I could to avoid any more cancer. Now, this evening, I was changing into a clingy white t-shirt, and I saw a lump sticking out of my shirt, to the left of where my nipple would be about an inch or two. I couldn't believe it, but there it was. I am so upset. Just my luck, it's Friday and a holiday weekend, why am I being tortured? I have to wait until Tuesday to talk to my oncologist. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone? My boyfriend is telling me that it is not BC. what else would he say! I know he is trying to make me relax, but it is not working. I can't fathom that I might have it again, for the third time. I am 45 years old. Am I doomed? I feel like it. I am sweating and feeling sick.

Nancy, I'm so sorry this is happening to you today of all days, right before a holiday weekend. I don't have words of wisdom from experience, all I can say is - you know that waiting for answers about anything is the hardest part sometimes, yet there is absolutely nothing you can do to alter whatever it is you'll find out, so please please please try to find a way to focus on good things for just a few days till you can call a doctor and get an immediate appointment to see what's going on. I hope and pray that it's a cyst or scar tissue going wild - which it could be - so I say go get a glass of wine, hug boyfriend, and play Scarlett O'Hara ... "I'll worry about that tomorrow" for 3 more tomorrows.
-
Mary - Your kind words are "priceless". Thank you so much. You have no idea how much your response meant to me. I needed that. Thank you. I don't have any wine, but I settled for a bowl of cocoa krispies. I wanted chocolate! Nancy

Nancy,
I like Mary's response too...great words of wisdom. I do want to send you a cyber hug (((((((HUG))))))) and we are here for you. Scarlett also recommends Golden Girls, Three's Company and I Love Lucy for therapy.

Traci - Thanks for the hug! This site is the only place I can get true satisfaction and feel connected. I am trying to stay busy, but I feel like it is going to be a long day. I called my mom and told her and she acted like she didn't even hear me....it is unbelievable.

Hi Linda - I went to my oncologist on Wednesday. She said that she didn't know what it was. . . she had the front desk call my surgeon and get me an appointment asap. I saw him at the end of the day. He wasn't sure, but agreed that whatever it is, it has to come out. He has ordered a PET scan and an MRI. I should be finished both tests by the end of this week. I can't beliee this. I just don't know what it is. It is different from the other lumps I have found in the past. I pray thats a good thing!! Talk to you soon. Nancy
-
I called for the results of my PET scan and MRI on Thursday, since I hadn't heard anything. My PET scan was fine!!! The MRI showed a lump (duh) that they think is a subaceous(?) cyst. I am very relieved. Waiting for results of tests is agonizing and debilitating. I will see my PS in a couple weeks, and have the "cyst" removed November 1st. Thank you everyone for being there. Nancy

Nancy
Have you had the operation to remove the cyst yet? Hope it went well and pls update.
Did you have the bilaternal mastectomy ? Where exactly was this cyst? Was the cyst in the reconstructed tram muscle?
Your second time 06 dx, had 1 node positive, was it a microscopic or bigger than 2mm?
-
Guess Newalex and I think alike! How are you, Nancy?

I am having my surgery on Thursday, December 2nd. I will keep my fingers crossed that this lump is just a cyst. Thank you for checking on me. Yes, I had a bilat mastectomy in June 2008 with immediate TRAM reconstruction. The lump is around where a nipple would be.
-
Hang in there - we are waiting with you. Good luck with the surgery. Will be thinking of you.

Just checking in on you, Nancy. Hoping for the best.
