post mastectomy options

I am scheduled to have a mastectomy in 10 days. I am plus size and currently a 38H. I won't have reconstruction for about a year. How can I balance out my chest immediately after surgery and then after I'm healed?
I know I will eventually get a prothesis but what can I do in the meantime so I can go out in public without looking too unbalanced?
