I was dx in Jan with TNBC and I need Exercise and a low-fat diet will help me to cut my chance of recurrence by as much as 50% so I HAVE TO START NOW!! Problem is I have NO motivation, we even bought an eliptical machine last week and I haven't been on it yet
So I have decided that I am going to start WW tomorrow and start working out. I have used WW before and lost 30 pounds so I know it works. This time around I need to lose about 35 lbs, anyone interested in doing it with me? Looking for motivation and for someone to keep me honest
xoxo, Angi

Hi, Angi ~ I don't know anything about WW, but you're welcome to join us on the Motivation thread if you need motivation to exercise. The thread was originally started in Spring of 09 after a few of us had finished rads and were feeling crappy. We walk, bike, put in gym time, do yoga, zumba, or WiFit -- whatever works for you and your schedule. No pressure -- just a self-reporting & encouragement format by a great group of very supportive women, and some have lost quite a bit of weight, too. Just thought I'd tell you about it since you mentioned needing motivation! Deanna

Hi Angi
I'll join in with you! I've joined weight watchers many times before. I was always able to lose the weight, but since all this chemo stuff and no ovaries, blah blah blah.........I have about 35 lbs to lose too and just CANNOT get it off. I'll follow the weight watchers plan. I don't have time to go to the meetings, but I have the books, etc. I go by the "points" method and it works out really good for me.
So---today----8/30/10 is my fresh start!!
Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Hi, I am starting WW also because I would like to lose 25 lbs and in the past WW has worked for me better than other diets. I have already lost some with my ca treatments but need to lose more. I am riding a stationary bike for some exercise. I will be starting rads next week also.
I am still out of work on FMLA but should be going back soon. Good luck and happy dieting. We can post PM's also if you would like. I had a BMX 5/18/2010. LOL,gin2ca
-
Great that's three of us, anyone else want to join?? I will also be doing WW from home, I don't have the time to go to actual meetings. I am going to attempt to workout this morning, we'll see how far I get
Nice to meet you ladies. A little background....I am a 37yo stay at home mom to three girls, 12, 10 and 8. I live in the Seattle area and as of last week have been married for the past 13 years. Ugg I hate to post this for the world but maybe it will motivate me. I am 5'6" and 169 lbs (size 10/12). I gained 20 lbs since I started chemo, I would like to put all the blame on the chemo however I think a lot of it was me comfort eating! Let's get this party started ladies!!! lblb, Angi
-
It's nice to meet you Angi. What's the weather like up there? I live in Louisiana and the heat index has not been below 100 in weeks!!! I'm so ready for Fall, or better yet.........WINTER!!
I'm 47, was diagnosed at 44. Triple+. I actually lost weight during chemo, but started gaining after I finished Herceptin, bilateral mast and hysterectomy.........AND taking Arimidex. I'm not gonna DARE post my weight here.......LOLOL. I go to Curves at least 3 times a week. I've been going since February and NOTHING has happened on the scales...........absolutely NOTHING!! So discouraging, but my onc told me Friday that at least my weight has "leveled off". Not gaining still..........but I SURE want to be losing. Soooooooo I'm gonna give this WW another try. I'm going to start off with 24 points a day and see how that goes.
Hi Gin2ca---it's nice to meet you too.
-
Okay so I worked out for the first time today on my new eliptical machine!! I was only able to do 20 minutes but hey it's a start!! I plan on adding 2-3 minutes to each workout every day and work myself up to 45-60 minutes. I had to take a break in the middle of my 20 minutes...wow am I out of shape!! How are you ladies doing?
-
Hi Angi-----I have to admit I haven't been doing very good on my plan. Baked cupcakes for my daughter's 3rd graders last night and had to eat a couple
-
Can I join? I have been a lifetime member of WW and had my weight kept off for two years until the past few months. I had a hyster/ooph and am on Arimidex and boy the pounds are coming on! Everyone tells me that things will stabilize but if I gain any more weight that I fought so hard to lose I am going to SCREAM! I have been following the WW plan for the most part and working out. Boy what a struggle! But I keep chugging along!!!
-
I would love to join! I've been a Lifetime member of WW since 2004 (lost 38 lbs) but the weight each year has been creeping up on me and then with my diagnosis last year and all the fun stuff that chemo and rads put you through, I am now the heaviest I've ever been without being 9 months pregnant! I would love to lose 40 lbs, I know that's a stretch, especially at my age (50) and right in the middle of chemopause. But I have to try and try hard as I'm so unhappy at this weight, not to mention all the health problems that being this overweight can bring. I'm going to do my best over this long weekend (a couple of dinners to go to) so I think I'll begin hard core on Tue, 7 Sep. I'm also going to have to do some exercising, walking, going to the gym to help speed up my metabolism and also to get stronger. I'm so glad I found this thread, thanks Angi for starting it! Good luck to all and let's be "The Biggest Losers"!
-
Collie-"Biggest Loser" is my favorite show!!!!!
-
Well WWBL's, how are you all doing? My weekend eating was not too bad...but not too good either. But yesterday I stayed below 24 points, weighed and measured all my food, as my previous portions needed some serious "reeling in" and of course used a food journal! I have a really busy week so I'm going to have to really make the effort to get in some form of exercise or a good, brisk walk. I hope everything's going well with you and looking forward to hearing success stories on the scale!
-
Can I join too? I did sign up for WW after my breast doc suggested I both lose weight and eat healthier. WW is doing that for me. So far I am down 26 lbs, 14 more to go then I will reconsider my goal weight. I weight in at meetings, bought the monthly pass ( if I am paid up, I attend, too cheap not to) and I also use the online WW tools and tracking. Love their website.
I will make a commitment to check in here once a week. Glad to be with others..

Angi,
I bought an elliptical several years ago. One of the ways I got myself to use it was to rent DVD's from the libraries of television series that I had missed. I would allow myself to watch them only while using the elliptical. It was a great carrot for me.

I've never done WW and don't have time for it. However, I've tried every diet under the sun over the years. I've lost weight and then gained it back. With the Arimidex I do find it harder. However, I'm working at it and I'm going to get on the elliptical right now. I'd like to lose at least 40 lb but 50 would also be nice.
-
Hello all.
How are you all doing? I was down 2/10ths of a pound this week....but heck, it is down, not up! Progress. I have been stressing a bit. I have my first revision surgery since my SEIA Flap was done in March. It should go fine, but.....still makes me nervous.
-
Is this topic still active?? I just joined weight watchers last Saturday and would love to have some additional weight loss partners!! Anyone up for it?? I have between 35-40 pounds to lose! Would love some company along the way!
-
Cydz - I would love to join you. I have been a lifetime member of Weight Watchers (lost the same 25 lbs. three times!). I have gained about seven pounds and started going back again. Taking these pounds off have been frustrating. They don't seem to want to budge. I figured if I started going back to weekly meetings I may get more motivated. I just started back last Saturday. We'll see what happens.
-
Yay, Don23!! Thanks, we can be good support to each other. I love doing weight watchers, have done it many times. I know it works when I follow the program. I lost 30 pounds on it about 12 yrs ago. This chemo weight however, does not want to budge, but I am confident ww won't let me down! Anxious to see how I will do on Saturday!! Good luck to you, too!
-
Do you go to meetings or do you do this online? I go to meetings on Saturday. The leader there on Saturdays rocks!
-
Hey Don23! How did you do!?
I went to my meeting on Saturday and was totally disappointed that I only lost a half a pound. I had journaled for 5 days religiously but had a attended a work dinner for my husband on Friday. I am blaming the low loss on the dinner, even though I thought I had left enough for that. Here's hoping this week's is better! This weight is really really stuck on there! -
Hi Cydz - I did OK. I only lost ounces but that is better than nothing. Some loss is better than no loss. I agree with you about the weight being stuck. Mine has been stuck for quite some time. Even in my younger days it took a while to lose weight. Now that I'm older I think it is going to be a long journey. If we stick with it, we definitely will see results but not as quick as we would like. Hang in there - I know I'm going to.
-
Welcome don23 and Cydz......
I have not met my commitment to check in here once a week. I made it to my WW meeting this week.....up 0.40 lbs.....but the good news is that I went to the meeting. I had a business trip last week,,,that set me back a bit.
Hope all is well
-
Getting to the meetings is half the battle
!
-
Hey everyone. had computer issues, but now I am back!! Hope you all had a fabulous week!
I have been going to the meetings and you are so right. Making yourself go is half the battle. I went today, a good meeting re. Thanksgiving and planning ahead. AND I lost 2 pounds!! I am so happy! My chemo pounds just would not budge!!! But here they go!!! See ya don't let the door hit ya...
How did everyone else do this week?? I also forced, yes forced myself to do an hour of cardio every day this week,M-F. I figure if I drive all the way to the gym, might as well not just do a half hour. It was tough but I think unfortunately it is my new reality. I am grateful that it produced positive results!!
-
Cydz - I did not go this week. If I would have weighed in today I would have been up a lb. I have been nibbling a little too much and I know it. I do workout faithfully. You had a great week! Maybe it has to do with working out for an hour instead of 1/2 hr. I wish I had the time to do that. I am lucky to get a 1/2 hr. in. I have started strength training so maybe that will help some.
Keep up the good work!!!!!!!!!!
-
Hi all! Sorry for the delay! I use my husbands I Pad alot and for some reason, I can't post from there, weird. Anyway, weighed on Saturday and gained .6. Was glad since that was after a week long trip home to Chicago AND Thanksgiving. I was grateful, but did watch it on Thanksgiving too. I am feeling lighter and tighter and am excited! I have been doing an hour of some kind of fat burning exercise everyday, really trying to burn the fat! Tonight we are heading out to dinner and I have looked ahead at the menu, including drinks, so I know what to order! How are you ladies doing??
-
Cydz - .6 isn't too bad given the fact it was Thanksgiving and all. I think that's pretty good actually. I did not weigh in last weekend. I plan on going tomorrow and hope to have some good news. Keep your fingers crossed for me! I also can't wait to hear about the new program they are launching that started this week.
-
Hey Don23(can I just say Don?) Kept my fingers crossed for you!! how'd you do?? I lost 1.5 and down a whopping 4 pounds total! I am happy! I couldn't budge my weight on my own. The new plan remains to be seen. I am sad that they launched this coming into a very hard season. It would be nice to know what I am doing moving forward, and now I feel like I have to learn something new. Oh well, I guess I will give it a try. My husband and oldest daughter who lives with us, are both doing it too, so we can all learn together. Let me know how you did! I am hoping for good news!!
-
NSWTD! How are YOU doing?? Would love to hear!!
