I am a long term survivor, with an excellent insurance, I am retired, but looking into Medicare that we get at 65 if you have enough credits I found out that many doctors, really the majority, do not accept Medicare patients, what to do is this the case?

I moved to a new city and I see the signs at many doctors offices, "We do not accept Medicare" My ophthalmologist told me, that when I start using Medicare, even with my second Insurance, I need to find another doctor.

 I see a problem trying to find specialists.

I would love to know more about this.  I'm so disappointed that nobody came on to answer your concerns.  I, too, am worried about losing contact with my doctors when I go on to medicare.  That will be a topic of conversation at all my next follow up visits.  I'm not at 65 yet, but my husband will be very soon, and I will be, too, not long after.

I and my DP got a Medicare Advantage Plan and had no problems finding doctors that were a part of our network.  But now with the new Healthcare NoForm Plan, I am really concerned as to if we are going to be able to keep our doctors.  So far none have told us we have to go elsewheres but it is very concerning what will happen as of 1/1/11 when our plan has to be redone.  They have already told us to expect higher rates but it's also going to be concerning as to what doctors will stay on our particular plan since they are supposed to get paid less.  I expect it to be a nightmare for new patients trying to get doctors and specialists.  They may keep those they already have but they have the right not to accept new patients.  Too bad Washington didn't take this into consideration before they stuck their messed up mines into the healthcare system.
