Radiation neuropathy

Options

Does anyone else have symptoms of pain and numbness in their hands following radiation? It has been suggested that I have carpal tunnel problems, but since the pain started right after radiation I am curious about a possible connection.  Radiation neuropathy apparently exists, but there isn't much written about it on the internet that I can find.

I firmly believe that radiation has caused numbness in my right side and my fingers on the right hand.  Probably more than the chemo (taxol) which I was told by my onc would possibly cause numbness but should go away after a year or so.  But I think radiation is awful too -- does nerve damage which I can only hope someday will return.

I have just completed 30 days of radiation 2 weeks ago. I now have radiation rash and continued breast pain. I believe I neuropathy in my breast from the radiation treatment.

I had mild neuropathy in my left hand before the radiation and it worsened quite a bit during the radiation.  The Radiologist said there was no connection.  I'm not convinced.

I too have neuropathy in my left hand up to elbow from radiation.  I've been to several doctors with no results. I have also had two steroid injections in the left side of my face and one steroid injection in the back of my neck and one steroid injection in my left shoulder - none of these had any effect on the numbness.  I'm going to see a neurologist next week.  He's about my last chance for some help.  Also, my left hand is very week and significantly smaller than the right although I try to use it and exercise it.  The pain is always worse at night.  I do take two 10/500 tabs of hydrocod(Lortab 10) every morning (It helps somewhat).  Also take two at night (no real effect except to help me sleep).  Have also tried Lyrica & Kadian - no effect at all.  Try the Lortab.  Alice Raye
