Me -- running in my sleeve

This is from a recent 5K race:

I'm wearing the compression sleeve and glove (you can see it bunches around my wrist, not sure what to do there) and a far more attractive runner's sleeve (it has no compression) on my other arm for balance.

Wow!  Thanks for posting that ... I feel so fat, so out of shape, so like I'm not going to get back in the shape I was in before all this started ... I feel inspired.  GOOD FOR YOU!  Thank you!

MOTC, you truly are an inspiration!

Maybe Binney will have some suggestion regarding the bunching at the wrist?  I have a feeling this is an issue you will want to address with your fitter.

http://www.lymphedemaproducts.com/products/juzo-expert-acfs.html Juzo makes a glove in black and chestnut in two compressions--

http://www.lymphedemaproducts.com/products/juzo-soft2000-cg.html Juzo also makes the "Soft 2000" matching sleeves with a compression of  20-30.  As Binney said in another thread, this is a very light, soft sleeve and you may want to check with your therapist if this could be an alternative to you instead of just the old medical-beige garments.

Terrific job; and I didn't even notice the compression sleeve until I looked for it because I was drawn to the colorful runners sleeve; so that was also a good fashion move too Smile!

The Juzo glove looks to only go to the knuckle, which would be a real disaster for me with my swollen finger.  As for the wrist, I wear the sleeve under over the glover because otherwise the sleeve would bunch up underneath.  Its all imperfect but since my LE has improved a lot, I guess its working.  That alone makes me hesitate to take risks with a new kind of sleeve.

MOTC - I would also be hesitant to change sleeves. A couple of years ago I had a LT suggest that maybe I should be wearing a 15-20 instead of the 20-30 that I normally wear. It was just a suggestion and she nor I ever followed through. Fast forward to about 2 months ago. I finally decided that I would at least try a lighter compression as my forearm swells more w/the custom garments and anything w/the silicone band on top (except the Lympediva band - which does not seem to constrict). So, I have been experimenting... wearing different sleeves each day, while doing my normal activities, and documenting every day and night the circumferential changes for the day. And guess what - the days that my arm feels the best and has the least amount of swelling are the days that I wear the Jobst 15-20mmhg sleeve, without the silicone band. And the activities during the day do not seem to make a difference... and that included a flight that I took a couple of days ago. Of course I am sad to give up my beautiful colored Juzo Dream sleeves, but the numbers don't lie. I will probably keep the Lymphediva one around when i want to have some fun, but the decrease in size is worth it to me to go with boring beige. And the same goes for night garments - for me anyway - the lighter the better, but I cannot go without for sure.  And as for wearing it for runs... I do tri's and long distance cycling (both for fun really, because it is just a fact that I will never win... well, maybe when I am 60 and there are only 2-3 people in my age group!) and I always wear a sleeve. Usually I will be approached by a BC survivor who, luckily for them, does not need one - but it lets them know who I am right away!

    That's what we need!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Is to post pictures of us, in our 'gear' involved in doing things we love.

I wanna see lots more pictures of our swell team conquering the elements, out there in the bigger world, doing our thang.

I declare this the thread to post all pictures of the 'winners circle'. That can be a pic of you crocheting in your garment or whatever makes your heart happy.

    We are winners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rock on, MOTC!  I think that picture is awesome, and you are in terrific shape.  You go, girl.  This picture, to me, says it all in what it's about to go through all of this and thrive despite the obstacles.  I'll have to get some pics up of me, but I haven't run in any events lately!

P.S.  I'm definitely going to try the lighter sleeves.  I'll let you all know how it goes.
