Had a great visit with my oncologist!

She took one look at me Friday, and then scanned my blood test results and said "I think you have got this thing beat". I wanted to hug her!! I told her that I knew the odds of recurrence with a Stage 3a, 8 pos node, her2+ diagnosis were pushing 30%. She said that she gave me a 15-20% chance...because of my committment to healing! It's hard work. I HATE green vegetable juice and cleaning that dang machine...and I am still trying to stop making grocery lists in my head while I am supposed to be learning how to meditate. BUT...I am doing my best

Congrats geewhiz! Isn't a great feeling leaving the oncologist after a good appointment? I feel on top of the world! I'd like to know more about the green vegetable juice......... I love my veges and eat many servings a day but it would be nice to get them in juice. I took a yoga class last fall, my first one ever, and I plan to sign up again for it in September. By the way, I was told I have a 15% chance of recurrance and I am also 3A. Take care!

That had to be a great thing to hear - so happy for you!

That's such great news, you must feel over the moon. I'm just about to start treatment and am frightened. I'm also 3, your post gives me lots of hope. What is with the green vegie juice? Is this something you know that helps with recovery?

Gee.....glad you had a good visit...always nice when our docs are positive...helps so much....I love my veggies, both raw and cooked, but could never do the juicing...the visual of green juice gets me, never mind the taste....and especially since chemo.....Saw my onc on Thursday for 3 month check up and also had a good visit.....he draws blood right before appt, so don't have labs back yet....but not worried.....first thing onc said when he walked into the room was "you look great"....he hasn't talked statistics for the last couple appt, but that might be because I am taking a break from AI's.... its been 5 months now...onc would really like me to give AI's another chance but I'm not ready to yet, and might not be ever....I gave it a good 3 1/2 years......onc has always told me I'm doing well, but never that I look great....I truly believe it is because I am not struggling with all the side effects from the AI's.....some one today who I don't see often told me that I look great....I love hearing it......of course the more I hear it, the more I am convinced not to go back on AI's.....Back to stats....when onc would talk about them, it was bilat gave me "w" %, chemo gave me "x"%, rads "y" and AI's "z"....I think all together (including ooph), it gave me disease free survival about 80%....he has said many times that AI's add close to 25%...but I have given up on worry about stats and say it will or it won't come back!!!! May NED continue to be all of our favorite friend

Great news! Isn't it lovely when your Onc says you are "looking great"!! So happy for you! Long may it last.

Yes, I hope all of us continue our dance with NED for a long long time! I try not to pay attention to stats too!
I really believe strongly now in how powerful our doctors attitude is our on attitude towards our disease. My doc has been doom and gloom until this past visit. I was actually already booking second opinions to find a new onc. I sought out other team members (surgeon, radiation) just for their more positive care. What a difference it made for me!
I first read about juicing in Kris Carr's, Crazy Sexy Cancer book. She juices twice a day and has been Stage IV for another cancer for many years now with no progression. The juicing has become part of my routine (most days that is... I am not perfect.) The brassica vegetables(like cabbage) have chemicals tht studies show to help ward off breast cancer. I use an Omega Juicer and a counterful of organic veggies -kale, cabbage, fennel, carrots, beets... We planted a garden and work it together. The little ones love seeing the process of growth. It also makes them eat things they otherwise would turn their noses up at!
It would take days to eat all that goes into a glass. My whole family now will "shoot" a small glass. If you add an apple, cucumbers, etc., it tastes MUCH better. I have a friend who adds a little of the Odwalla "Green Monster" juice to cut hers, again it has sugars but not tons. The pulp leftover, I make into breakfast muffins for the kids. They don't notice. Juicing and veggie broths I think helped me through chemo with minimal side effects.
