I just got the call from my Oncologist with the results from my breast MRI.  There is a mass in my right breast that is highly suspisious BiRads 5 and needs to be biopsied.  I dont have all the details yet as I am waiting for the report to be faxed to me..

I am stuck at work and all I want to do is go and hide somewhere and cry...

BREATHE- deep breaths, in and out.  I know you are shaken to the core, but it may turn out to be nothing, which I pray is the case.  Can you just screw work for the day, and leave????  We are here for you, we will help you wait this out.  You are not alone!

OK, I don't want to give you false hope but I was once in your exact position -- birads 5 on a breast MRI, all my docs went into caner mode -- and it was completely benign.  Hang in there.  You just don't know.

Well I have made it through the day... I sat at my desk in a dream, I could not think to do anything.  I cant beleive I am back at this stage so soon.

I think they saw something before on my right breast because they did a US on both back in march, but the US tech said what they saw was just a shadow so all the attention was placed on my left breast.

If I had known about the right breast I would have made different choices in my treatment plan.  I am just praying that it is no more than DCIS... if so I think a BMX will be the way to go.  I am going to use this waiting time to reaserch breast reconstruction options.

I need to try and stay on top of my fears so I will drive myself insane.  I just need to stop the tears...

Thank you all for your support you are all so amazing...

    Kathleen,

So glad to hear you made it through the day.  I'm so sorry you have to go through this again so soon.  Educate yourself, it gives you power.  I think I mentioned antianxiety meds to you previously, they help me sleep.  Best of luck to you.  I am thinking of you.

    Hi

I am sorry you are going through this. During my diagnosic phase I had an MRI which came back highly suspicious, Birads 5.. it was horrifiying...I had another stereotactic biopsy which came back b9...it was a radial scar.  Radial Scars can become cancerous eventually and the recommendation is to remove.    MRIs show everything and come back with a high number of false positives because they are so sensitive.    Here's hoping to that your results are B9...God bless.

Just got the MRI report here what it says:

Right Breast:- There is a moderate background enhancement. In the medial aspect, at 3:00, there is a curvilinear regoin measuring 2.5cm AP X 1.5cm TRV, which has increased T1 signal on pre-contrast images, but does demonstrate enhancement post-contrast administration.

    Diagnosis: DCIS BiRads 5

Additional Findings: In the visual portion of the Liver there are several T2 hyperintense lesions, measuring up to 6mm in size.

So I am just waiting for the co-ordanator to call to set-up the biopsy date...

Sorry to hear that you have to go through another biopsy but hoping it is benign - MRIs are pretty sensitive so there is definitely a chance this could all be ok...

Re the liver areas: it is super common to find little cysts and other little abnormalities in the liver (I am in healthcare field and these little "incidental" finding crop up all the time.)  That being said though your doc may recommend a liver ultrasound or perhaps dedicated MRI of the liver to further investigate and just confirm this isn't anything to worry about.  Hang in there and keep us posted!!

    KWolf -

Sorry you have to wait until Aug 12th - the dang waiting is the worst part!  I agree with Candsmom - don't jump to thinking that the liver is cancer.  She is correct in what she states.  As my onc said to me, we all have things we never knew were in us, on us, etc., when having an MRI, CT or PET - everything gets disclosed.  I found out when I had my prechemo scans I had diverticulosis and a small stone in my kidney!  No problems ever regarding either, so go figure. And yes, cysts on livers are quite common.  So hang in there - we will all hope for the best together.

    UPDATE...

I had my biopsy yesterday and all went well.. They took some fluid as well as tissue, the doctor said the fluid contained blood??? The tissue samples all came from the area just under my nipple and to the left of the nipple.  I am more bruised this time than I was last time and a bit sore today.. I hope to get the results by next Wednesday, it's goung to be a long weekend waiting....

Kathleen..I had a biopsy in my "good" breast after chemo and during rads.  The doctor that did it told me that the sample was bloody and squishy...He said that they were vascular..which is b9...
