Waiting game for lymph node biopsy after 6 years

Options

HI,

I am in the lymph node waiting game as well and going nuts. I was dxed in 2004 with IDC stage 2, grade 3, 0/7 nodes, triple negative cancer, but BRCA2+, have had bilat mastesctomy with silicon implants as reconstruction as well as ovaries and such out.

Went yesterday afternoon for routine MRI for implant check and they found several enlarged lymph nodes. Doctor called 4 hours later but did not get the message till after office was closed. So I had to wait till this morning to find out about the nodes. Now I have to wait till Friday to have a ultrasound guide biospy of the lymph nodes. Which means more waiting over the weekend. I am freaking out about this big time.

Wonder if others who have had bi-lats have had reoccurances in the node.

Lizz

Can't help as I only had a large lumpectomy, but just want you to know I will wait with you.  The waiting is so horrid.  You are not alone, we are all here with you on this journey.  Keep us posted, please.  It could be absolutely nothing and that's what I'm gearing for.

    Hi Lizz,

Good luck today. I've had all sorts of funky lumps after my mastectomy - including one - 7 years after - that was a suture from my original surgery!

The Radioloist Doctor would not do the ulrasound guide biopsy due to the node in question being right on top my implant. So now I have an appointment with my surgeon to see about having the nodes removed surgically on Friday the 13th.  I actually prefer to have them out all the way since my first fine needle biopsy (on April fools day 2004) turned out negative for all 4 samples. But the lumpectomy proved I actually had cancer. So I rather let the pathologist disect the entire nodes in question. But it means more waiting....

Thanks, Lizz, for letting us know.  I have to agree with what you decided upon, even though there is more waiting.  I think you will be more at peace doing it this way.  Keep us posted and Good luck - will be thinking all good thoughts.

    Oh Lizz,

My prayers are with you! I am a TN girl too that has been through the mill myself.  I am BRCA1+ myself undergoing RADS.

Sending positive thoughts your way.  Please keep us posted.

    God Bless,

    Lizz,

Reading your post prompted me to join, after two years of just reading!  I had a bilat mast. with silicone implants two years ago. Just felt a small, hard knot exactly where the orig. lump was. I really don't want to lose my implants for a biopsy, so am putting off making an appt. with the surgeon.  The oncologist, last week, wasn't concerned!!  I know it's something.

I'm hoping that a skilled breast surgeon can do the biopsy, if I need one,  with implants intact, using ultrasound or MRI guide.

I am lucky, lucky so far.  Stage 1 lobular, oncotype of 5, no chemo or tamox.

What is the result of your node biopsy...and how did the ultrasound guided surgery go?

    Lizz,

I am going to join the waiting game with you - I also had a bilat with silicon implants and like jennylyn I have also had all sorts of funky lumps, bumps and thickening-but so far everything has been okay. I think you are doing the right thing, even though it is going to take a little longer.

My prayers and thoughts are with you-let us know how you make out.
