Scar revision surgery--need bra?

Options

I had scar revision surgery on Wednesday. Do I really need to wear a bra all the time for "support"? What does it support? I am completely flat. it is swollen, but I never had to wear any compression bandages or bra after my mastectomy, so I'm confused as to why I have to wear it now. i know I will just follow my PS's advice and wear it, but anyone know why? I hate wearing a bra, it's so uncomfortable and itchy.

I can't imagine why. Maybe try a soft camisole with puffies for a little comfortable compression? Whatever you do, be careful not to irritate your healing skin and incision. I hope you're happy with the revision itself.

I am happy with the revision. Of course it's still swollen and maybe that's why the bra is so uncomfortable. That and I've been so used to not having one. I also have an infected lymph node in my armpit, which is not comfortable at all. I hate to go against doctor's orders, but I am just starting to tear up thinking about putting this bra back on (it's been off for a half hour while I put a heating pad on the lymph node). Ugh.

Sorry you're so uncomfortable. Be careful with the heating pad. You don't want to burn your sensitive skin.

    Hi Turtletots

Maybe your ps just wants you in something with compression?  Could you ask if there is an alternative something to wear/use that would be more comfortable?
