Hello everyone!

I am a 30 year old newlywed who was diagnosed with IBC in February of 2010. This is my very first time visiting a discussion board. As much support and love as I receive from friends and family, I was hoping to receive a different kind of support from others going through the same experiences!

After much pushing and consistent nagging of my doctors, I finally convinced them that there was something more than fibrocystic changes going on in my breast. The biopsy confirmed my suspicion. And the PET/CT scan said even more. I was diagnosed with IBC with bone mets. I am her2+ and er+. I started with Herceptin, Taxotere, and Carboplatin, plus Zometa. After about 4-5 months of this treatment, my most recet PET/CT scan showed that not all of my cancer was responding to this treatment. Since all of the cancer is not responding, my doctor does not want to continue me on the same treatment. So, I am set to begin Tykerb and Xeloda next week.Plus, I will be receiving shots to shut down my ovaries and make me go into early menopause. I have no children of my own....so that news was a bit sad and took some deep breaths to handle. But, I'm thankful for every minute of my life!  I was wondering if anyone else has experience with this type of treatment and would also love to hear how others are coping with diagnosis and treatment similar to mine! I've been remaining positive and optimistic and trying to live life to its fullest. I'm a Kindergarten Teacher...and since summer is almost over, I'm hoping the new treatment won't interfere too much with lessons and story time! It's going to be a tough year with the energetic kids, especially with my lower back and hip pain, but I still have a month off to rest and relax before the school year begins!

I wish everyone the best of luck on their road to victory and really hope to find others who I can connect with on this board!

I can't help with your question, but I just wanted to send out a big virtual {{hug}} to you.  That is a lot to deal with at the age of 30.  I sincerely hope the new regimen will be successful in beating the IBC.
