2nd opinion question

Hi All,  my wife received her diagnosis of Stage 1 IDC on Monday.   The diagnosis came from a well known radiology lab, who outsources their pathology to CBLPath.  

We are looking into options for a 2nd opinion.  Johns Hopkins wants us to send all her tissue samples, which concerns her because then she's afraid they could get lost after Hopkins looks at them (or in transit).  We would have to go to the radiology practice, who then has CBLPath send the samples to JH.  

We are also looking at Dr. Lagios, though I'm not sure if he needs the tissue samples (I will call him tomorrow).  Obviously if they both want tissue samples it creates further delay, and already our surgeon's office is suggesting she should have her surgery before the end of August (we still aren't sure whether she needs a lumpectomy or masectomy, she had her MRI today).

Anyway, how did others handle 2nd opinions?  Did you have tissue samples sent?  If so, what happens to the sample after the 2nd opinion office completes their analysis?
