Difference between regular back pain and mets?

Options

I have a bad back.  I've had a bad back since before I was diagnosed with BC.  I have poor posture and sit at a desk all day.  Every single day I worry that my back pain is mets.  How do you know the difference? Are the pains different in any way?  When should I be alarmed?

Tabb2000 - I don't think anyone can answer this question for you. For example, I was diagnosed Stage IV with extensive bone mets - spine, hips, legs, ribs and left shoulder. The only pain I had was in my left shoulder. Nothing at all in the other places. Talk to your onc and see if he will order tests to alleviate your worries. That is the only way to get an answer.

Is your back pain different than what you have experience before? I have a bad back too and having a double mastectomy has taken quite awhile to adjust. My last scan showed everything is okay. But there is no way to know unless you have it checked.

I dont think you can tell as many ladies have no pain or little and have mets!

Any pain that lasts more than two weeks needs to be more investigated, however, I came through five months of different scans and waiting earier this year to be told there is no cancer.   I have no explanation  for the pain other than lack of estrogen, arimidex, and/old age creping in!!!!

Have it checked just in  case if it continues:)
