Good News

Hi all,

So I finally got the results back from my chest CT and it was "all clear"!!!!!  I had gone in for a follow up w/my rads onc (Dr. Luther Ampey---LOVE him for anyone in my area) and he knew I was stressed waiting to hear (med onc hadn't called back yet) so he pulled it up for me and gave me the good news!!!!  He was also very reassuring that what I'm going through is normal---I just don't know how to trust my body anymore.  It's so frustrating, not to mention mentally exhausting.  It would be one thing if I'd had ANY of these issues before BC but all the pain I've been having is new since my dx.  So of course that's where my mind goes.

Anyway, I needed to hear that before I decided if I would head to the beach until mid next week, so I am going to go and try my damndest to relax and put BC out of my mind as much as possible!!!  And THANK YOU ladies for your continued support!

Great news!!!!  I have a rad onc. that sounds like yours.  And, he is right.  All normal feelings.  I was a mess for awhile after treatment ended.  I am now 4 1/2 yrs. out and emotionally in a much better place-most of the time.  When checkups are on the horizon I get a little freaked.

Hi....  Thrilled at your news and thrilled you are on the beach relaxing. 

Hope you brought serious sunscreen as I didn't do my forearms and am red there.  The sun and air do wonders for healing and getting one's head on straight.

I also had some chest soreness following radiation.  Told my body to stop complaining and did the Seattle-to-Portland anyway.  Still have a bit, but soreness is waning.  Knew this would happen as was not possible to do radiation of breast w/o lungs. 

Called my rad onc a "weenie" for not doing STP.  He is a cyclist and Group Health is one of the sponsors.  Anyway, by the end, it wasn't my lungs I was feeling.  Actually, I think the hours and hours of cycling over two days strengthened them.

Will visit a friend on Long Island to catch a ton of waves in about three weeks.  Can't wait.  And yes, I will use tons of sunscreen.  Can swim for hours.

So thrilled to be strong again.  Enjoy your time in the sun!!!! - Claire
