I am currently in the process of working on the reconstruction and expansion after my bi-lateral mastectomy  4 weeks ago and the doctor asked me if i considered if i wanted nipple reconstruction and tattoing or if I just wanted to get the entire thing tattooed back on. Any opions of one vs the other?

Southerncoastie, I had bilat and had the nipple reconstruction and tattoos. the nipple recon isn't that bad but I ended up with one slightly protruding and the other flattened out to a small nub. I did go a tattoo artist who specializes in 3-D areola tattoos and she was able to enhance the 'look' with various colors so they 'look' even. The one that protrudes isn't so prominent that I need to wear a padded bra to cover, they do show slightly in t-shirts but only if you are looking to find them.

I highly recommend nipple recon. Btu every surgeon is not the same. Do your research. I feel much more complete and love my nipples. They look real in clothes and you don't see any of my scars. My mom only has tattoos and they don't come close to how real mine look.

    Hi girls!

I really suggest Tattooing. Tattooing is very easy and fast process. There is no necessitating being scared. If you are matching a new-fangled nipple areola to the presented breast, your plastic surgeon will combine a variety of colors and shades to get the exact pigment. If you had two-sided reconstructions, your plastic surgeon can apply your preoperative photographs to rebuild the nipple color, or you can select a new color that you are fond of against your skin tones.

    Have a nice Tattooing!
