For a venogram scan of veins with intravenous dye-- they needed it to be on the same side as my swelling-- so the needle, etc. was inserted in my arm which has lymphodema -- and it was fine!!

It was at an excellent hospital.

A venogram provides direct visualization of the veins that are thought to contain a clot, so the IV needle is inserted below the level of the clot (hand or foot) and the dye is injected, x-rays taken. Glad to hear it was normal ~ no blood clots. This test is what the medical field calls the "gold standard" which means the results are very trustworthy....so that is good.
