It's official
I am now one year out...Doing Good. mamo clean and bloo work perfect. So Now I dont see rads doc for 6 months and oncologist for 3.
I started in Arimidex. I took my first pill last night. I didn't sleep very well and was wondering if that was due to the Arimidex.
Does anyone know what the side affects are to arimidex and if what kind of supplements we can take? I had no side affects to tamoxifin and was hoping for the same with Arimidex but I swear I felt sortof shaky and nervou thoughout the night. I usually sleep really good. Any help would be appreciated!!!

I've had sleep issues both with Tamox and Femara weird sleep patterns). iIm wondering, though, if your sleep problem last night was due to tension from switching meds and not from the med itself. I guess you won't know for a few days at least.
Meanwhile HOORAY FOR CLEAN MAMMO!!!!!!!!!!!!1HOORAY FOR PERFECT BLOODWORK|!!!!!!!!!!!! HOORAY FOR NO DOC VISITS FOR A WHILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
May it continue this way!

Jen,
Can you switch to taking it in the morning? Woohoo, on the mammo and blood work being clear! You're on the other side!
-
Jen,
i was on arimidex for 5 and half years. i took the pill in the morning. supplements included calcium and vit d. that is about it for me.
congrats on your one year. give yourself some time to heal up ...remember your body has been hit hard the last year....
as Bugs says...you are on the otherside...and i am sure there were days when you never thought you would get here**

Jen, the side effects for Arimidex are many and varied. You may get none, some or many, but there are things you can do to alleviate them. Exercise is important even if its only regular walking. Some of the suppliments I use are glucosamin with condroitin and fish oil, these are for joint pain, magnesium for muscle pain, vit D and calcium for bone health, vit B3,6 and 12 for vervous system and I take Melatonin to help me sleep. Meds are always taken in the morning for me as thats when it works best. Also CONGRATS on reaching maintenance. WOOOOHOOOO!!!! Oh by the way, there is a thread called 'Arimidex' and there is a whole lot of info on it. Hope this helps a little. Love n hugs. chrissyb

Congrats Jen on being one year out.
I did have wakefulness in the middle of night when I first went on Aromasin, but it mostly sent away after a few weeks. The days I exercised, I slept better than on days I didn't.

congratulations on being one year out. Like someone mentioned, you may try taking the medication in the morning. That may help.
Take care,
Deb

Woo hoo! Go, Jen! Remember, the first couple of weeks on a new drug are the worst. Your body is getting used to it, but it will get better. I take Tamoxifen at night, and I remember being very irritable and cranky for the first few weeks. I remember at one point that my DH looked a little scared
