Anyone had breast thermography?

I had my 1 year follow up mammogram in May, 18 months after my initial diagnosis and single mx. The mammographer/radiologist stated that the breast tissue was too dense and not sensative to mammography. I was referred by my breast surgeon for a for a thermogram, a heat sensor camera that detects vascular changes in the breasts.  I  got the report this week with disturbing findings. It says that the breast has two suspicious areas at 3 o'clock and 7 o'clock. Unlike a mammo or mri, it is not specific enough to say whether or not that is a tumor or a cyst or a benign tumor. Where do I go from here now?

I am due for a breast MRI in  4 months. Should I ask my doctor to speed that up now in light of this? Would an ultrasound reveal anything new? Has anyone here ever had a breast thermogram?

Hi, Koryn; I'm not familiar with thermography, but it seems to me that any suggestion of suspicious findings should lead to more tests.  It seems very unlikely that whatever it is is a something, more likely one of the benign choices has presented itself.  But if it were me, I'd want an mri to be sure, so my vote is to ask the doc to pull the mri date forward and do whatever else has to be done to put your mind at rest.

For me, the ultrasound would come first, but if you can get an mri, that would save you the interim step.  The most definitive test would be biopsy, but that's a bit premature?

    Warmest,

Hi, here is some info on breast thermography at an integrative medical and dental center in Washington DC and there is even a video interview with a thermography patient and a follow up after a year. best to you!
