What is the best undergarment to wear immediately following a masectomy?  Does anyone have a product that worked well for them?

Immediatley afterwards I wore nothing but loose clothing around the house. I'd wear a comfortable camisole and then a teeshirt over it. I felt better this way.

There are also mastectomy camisoles that you can purchase. These are designed to fit the post mastectomy drains which if I remember correctly can detach. They're also super comfortable and have pockets for breast forms so you can continue wearing them way after your surgery.

When I went to the BS for my pre-surgery consult she gave me a script for two mastecomy camisoles.  Insurance covered two for me.  I went to Nordstroms and got the Ameona camis.  I loved them.  Specially with 3 drains (had one for almost a month).  The fiberfill bumps made me feel like I had something up there which really helped my attitude.

I wore very loose clothing.  I did use a wide ribbon around my neck in the shower to pin the drains to - it gave me free hands to shower and secured the drains.

    Good luck.

I think what's best depends on a couple of things. If support is an issue the camisole provides this. I didn't have much to begin with in the cleavage department, so tho I had a unilateral mx I didn't really need a lot of support. Insurance issued me a camisole but I didn't end up using it.

I didn't have reconstruction. I only had one drain. Some ladies with multiple drains suggest using a fanny pack or carpenter type apron such Home Depot sells. I was fine with loose tank tops/button up blouses. As others suggested, a ribbon or lanyard can be used to hold drains out of the way while showering, etc.

I woke up from the surgery wearing an Iron Maiden type surgical bra.  It must be one size fits all and the manufacturer apparently assumed we are all built like Dolly Parton. A foob made of cotton guaze protected the surgical site.

ScrapsMom  I was most comfortable in a Mastectomy camilsole.  The little pockets for the drains were so helpful, you have an easy place to put the darn things plus they were soft and cozy.  I purchased mine from TLC Direct, but I am sure you can get them at various web sites.
