Cami Secret
Okay, so I have had reconstruction, (so I am sorry if I am kind of intruding here) but during the years that I did not, the biggest bummer was trying to find a shirt that was not too low cut, where you couldn't see my prosthetics down my shirt when I leaned over. Well, here is what happens when you stay up too late - cheesy infomercials come on! But this time I thought it was something that I could have used when I didn't have breasts. It is called the cami secret. The website is: www.camisecret.com. Okay, the commercial is totally cheesy, and I don't think these are much more than those dicky things (omg, that sounds aweful, but back in the day that is what they were called!) that my mom used to have once upon a time ago, but I think I would have liked to have a few of them, especially during the summer, to wear with some of my lower cut tops when I didn't have breasts. So, I hope that someone can atleast use this info - or make their own!

I too cant wear any of more cute shirts and blouses any more you can tell i have no cleavage what so ever on one side, so i wish they would come up with something good, i have cami's but i wont wear those either as it dosnt really cover up anything- i will head over to that site and see what ii is all about, thanks

Thanks. I'll have to check them out.
Also: I would be lost without fashion tape. Victoria's Secret calls it Stylist Tape. I wear low cut shirts all the time and just use the tape to hold my shirt down. I attached it to the bra.

Hi Nordy,
You're certainly not intruding. I occasionally post on the Reconstruction forum when I think I have something "constructive" (no pun intended!) to add. I just checked out the camisecret website. This seems like a great product to have on hand. I recently ordered a shirt online that I love, but it's just too low cut for me (and would be even if I had breasts). I wear it with a tank underneath, but this kind of thing would be even better.
There was a thread here a while ago about another product that does the same thing -- the Winkee (http://www.thewinkee.com/). It comes in more styles and fabrics, but the attaching mechanism seemed rather cumbersome, so I never tried the product. Here's a link to that thread: http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/82/topic/741723?page=1#post_1549502.

Interesting item... even before BC, I would often pass up an otherwise pretty top because the V-neck was either too low or too low/wide for my liking.
The thing I wonder about with the CamiSecret is whether the bottom part of it would stay put as the fabric of the blouse/dress/whatever shifts around during normal wearing movements... because from what I see, there is nothing to keep the bottom of the CamiSecret panel from riding/bunching up. On the other hand, the more cumbersome Winkee would clearly not do that, because all of it is attached to a bra (not just the top corners, as in the CamiSecret).
(As a BabyBoomer, I used to wear dickies all the time in Jr High and High School!

The Winkies use double sided tape to stay in place, and they cost $16 each plus shipping. You could just as easily use some tape to keep the CamiSecret in place, and considering you get 6 for just a little bit more then just one of the Winkies, it's pretty much a no-brainer! I think I'll be placing an order! Thanks for the info!

Gosh Debbie - I don't remember if they had turtle necks built in to them... but I bet my mom would!
I am glad this info may be helpful, like I said, I wish I had known about these when I was breast-less!

Thanks. I will certainly look into it as I am planning a mastectomy w/o reconstruction. It's so nice when a woman like you who has chosen a different path (recon) yet you are still offering us some help. Far too often, I hear women "chastise" me for not having breast recon.
It's like the issue of breastfeeding vs formula; stay at home mom vs working outside of the home. Sometimes I wish we women would support each other more. Rather than making topics divisive.
I'll get off my soapbox now. but I genuinely thank you for the info. I guess what brought on my mini-rant is that my daughter gave birth a few days ago; she's struggling with breastfeeding and has been receiving a judgemental attitude from some of the nurses. She reported it to the head nurse who concurred that nurses need to be neutral and non-judgemental. We should all respect each others decisions. So, I thank more than you realize.

LOL... Eileen - my OB had forewarned me when I had my second child (post mastectomies) that some of the nurses might give me crap about not breast feeding (which if I still had ducts I would have done in a heartbeat). Fortunately they never did otherwise I am pretty certain they would have gotten an education on breast cancer! Yes, those topics that you speak of are very divisive - it is good to remember that we are all just doing the best that we can with the obstacles we have been given!

i remember crying because i didn't get a dickie for Christmas.
nice product~! thanks

Glad to hear you like them. I placed an order back in July, and they just shipped last week as they were on backorder, so I'll be getting them sometime this week. I have one of the Winkies someone here posted about, and have gotten a lot of use out of it this summer. It's so nice to not have to wear that extra layer under tops during the summer.

I remember Dickeys, and actually had a few. A couple were turtle necks, and a few were collars that could be folded down over a collarless blouse to make it look like it had a collar. I even vagulely remember a cowl neck one. They were great!
