Does modified citrus pectin contain tangeretin?

Options

Does anyone know if modified citrus pectin contains the flavonoid, tangeretin (a substance that may negate the effectiveness of tamoxifen)??

I've tried my best attempts at researching this topic, and can't find a statement as to whether modified citrus pectin made from citrus peels, also contains this substance that may be detrimental to women on tamoxifen, and which is also found in citrus peels.

    Timothy-

I don't know the answer, but I have two suggestions. You might try calling Life Extension Foundation which sells the Pectasol-C modified citrus pectin and ask them. They have naturopathic oncologists on staff to ask questions on the products they sell.

You might also try emailing Dr. ELiaz. He is very involved with Modified Citrus Pectin.

    Hi Timothy,

PectaSol-C Modified Citrus Pectin (MCP) (the only brand used in human clinical trials) is 100% MCP in the correct low molecular weight range to be absorbed. Detectable amounts of tangeretin as well as furanocoumarins, including begmattin and 6,7 dihydroxybergmottin (DHB) have not been found in this modified purified citrus pectin. The later information, on the furanocoumarins, is good for those concerned about the "grapefruit effect" (inhibiton of CYP34A) on absorption of certain medications. The manufactures of PectaSol-C, EcoNugenics, can be contacted at econugenics.com or 707 521-3370.

    Best of health,

    Barry

Thanks for the information.  I see Pectasol-C is available directly from EcoNugenics, and also see Pectasol sold under other packaging.  Is all the Pectasol supplied by the same manufacturor, EcoNugenics?
