TARGET TANK TOP SALE ALERT!
FYI - Just got the weekend sales flyer for Target and see they have a Merona brand double-layer crossover tank top going on sale starting tomorrow Sunday 7/11 thru Sat 7/17 for $6 each here in the Midwest. These tops are similar in design to the popular Gilligan O'Malley cross over camisoles except they don't come with a cup enhancer and pocket opening already built in.
My guess is that with the double-layer crossover bodice it would be a simple matter to make a small opening slit on the inside fabric on each side to create pockets for a lightweight breast form like the microbead breast forms. I plan on checking them out at the local Target in the next couple of days. They are regularly priced $10 each on sale for $6. They are 93% cotton and 7% spandex. They come in a variety of solid colors and prints. I like the wider shoulder straps vs the spaghetti straps and these should provide a little better coverage of the chest for hiding scars etc.

Geez, this is the second Target top/cami post. There isn't a Target in Ont. or at least near me.
I did however get a sleeveless cowl neck top today. Lots of print and with a sleeveless shirt underneath it works great for a uniboober like me.
Gentle hugs all.

Ohhhh Linda Lou---thanks for the heads up! I know where I'll be going tomorrow!! I love my other camis I got from Target.
LindaLou--thank you for going through the step by step process of making the microbead forms. It's REALLY informative. I can't imagine ever wearing anything else now that I've worn the microbeads. Thanks again!!!
Sharon snookums-------no worries 'bout you not having a Target-----you got a pressie coming to you from Target. It just takes a few days to get there

Ok...so I bought some of these crossover tank tops at Target tonight. The material is very soft and comfy. The sizes run LARGE so be sure to double check what size is best for you. I usually wear an XL in these types of tops but I got the Large instead and it is plenty roomy! I like the fact that these tops have a good length and are easily tucked into slacks if needed. It is not a little short top that barely covers the waistline!
Now regarding the V-neckline, it is a deep V similar to the Gilligan O'Malley camisoles. Because it is a crossover style you can easily have an open gap where the fabric crosses in the front. I fixed this by using a little "Stitch Witchery" to keep the front together for now and will decide later if I want to stitch the crossover area permanently.
I am still debating on what method I want to use to make bra pockets. This top does differ from the Gilligan O'Malley camisole in that the bra/chest area is much larger. The bodice on the front is indeed a double layer of fabric. An opening could be cut near the side seams and the edges topstitched to finish and then just insert a prosthesis into the pocket. The pocket created though will still be fairly large and I'm thinking the lightweight micro bead forms may have more room than they need to move around in. Depending on your body type, the breast form may ride too low when it sets in the pocket.
I want to do some brainstorming and see if there is a way I can apply a custom pocket to the inside of the bodice without having stitching show through to the front. I will let you all know if I come up with anything. The tops really are super soft and comfortable though...they would be too stretchy for a standard heavy silicone form but should work just fine with a lightweight microbead form.
