Calcifications Question... Follow up after B9 Biopsy...

Hello,

I had a stereotactic biopsy in Nov for a cluster of calcifications.  Thankfully they were b9.  On the 18th I am going for a  6 month follow-up.  

Can benign calcifications turn malignant?  I understand why a 6 month follow-up would be necessary for calcifications that were not biopsied.... to check for stability. But why if they were already deemed b9?  

Just getting anxious.  I have had a couple of biopsies within the 3 years and I am really spooked about going this friday.

I think they just want to be sure.  I had microcalcifications 2 years ago - biopsied by stereotactic and then in January they were clustering and my BS wanted to do a excisional biopsy to get more of them - it came back atypical lobular hyperlasia - not cancer, but kind of a precancer.  They worry a little when they start clustering more in a certain spot.  Hope yours turns out ok.  Hugs, Valerie

Sounds like me too. very dense fibroid breasts. Mammos every year but not to the month later each time..well this time it was very suspicious birad 4. Anyway turned out after stero 6 sites and sono guided they say florid ductal hyperplasia and sclerosing adenosis... a mimicing of Ca. Monday a MRI to put closure to it.You have to be your own advocate and learn as much as possible..educate yourself. God bless each and everyone of you...XOXOXO

ask for a braca..blood test for genetic strength...
