Bone Pain?
Tomorrow I see my onc for a Zometa infusion. I want to ask him why I always have bone pain. I feel like a 98 yr old women. I discussed it with my rad onc last month and he told me to increase the Ibuprohen and if that doesn't work he'll give me something stronger. I really don't want pain meds though. I seem to get it the worst in my hip and clavicle areas and the front of my thigh bones. I worry about bone mets and remember that on my first scan I had a nodule on my lung and a lesion on my liver "too small to characterize" . I've heard a lot of people say here that their oncs don't do scans alot, and wonder if my onc will do one based on the last scans that showed something on the liver and lung prior to chemo. I keep thinking the worst, but then also wonder if it could be Arimidex SE.

Sherri, I am going to ask him for scans, and yes I am on AI, Arimidex and was wondering if that is the problem.

Barb - I have had back problems for years and have struggled with pain. My onc didn't feel the need to do scans because it was a problem before cancer. So..... my primary did an MRI so that I could get the facet block that I need and at the same time we were able to see if there were any other "underlying" problems and compare them to the last set done in 2007. Check with your primary - he/she may be able to order CT or an MRI.

I think it's quite possible it's due to Arimidex. I had clear bone scans last fall but since I started Femara last month I feel like I've aged 20 years in a few weeks! I'm a human barometer now with horrid pain in my joints when a weather front comes in, which is quite frequent in Alaska.
If you need a clear scan to ease your mind then I would advocate for it.

Hey Barb,
Sorry you are dealing with this too. My onc is sending me for a spinal MRI b/c of the back pain I've been having. But yours definitely could be tx related. I'm not familiar with the SE's of what you are taking but it's very possible that could be it. Keep us posted on how you are doing!

Barb just wanted to let you know that I was switched from Aromasin to Tamoxifen and my feeling like I am 90 left me!!!! I too was having spine pain, really throbbing and my MRI was completely normal. Now on Tamoxifen I have far less joint and bone pain. The Onc also put me on Fosamax as my bones were really thinning. All in all far less side effects, much better!
Wishing you the best!
