I was in my early 40's when I was diagnosed with DCIS.  It has been almost 18 months since I had my mastectomy.  Recently, I have experienced random shooting pains around the surgical areas, the pains are very similar to the pain I experienced prior to my bc diagnoses.  I am wondering whether the pain has anything to do with the recurrence.  Does anyone experience similar pain?  I appreciate any input on this matter.

The exact same thing happened to me at the 18 mo. post op time period. Forunately I had an appointment with my breast specialist a week after I had these pains and she reassured me that: NO It is not the cancer returning. The pains are called Zingers and can happen for up to 2 years post suregery! That was my experience and it is now a few months later and no more Zingers! Good luck. If you are concerned you may want to visit your doctor.

Thanks, Graphics-Gal.  I have changed my appointment with my OC to an early date, I am hoping it's is not a recurrence.  This disease has taught me to take care of myself.
