Has anyone consulted Dr. Lagios?  Would you consider his opinion over that of your local doctor?

    Laurakay,

I have consulted with Dr. Lagios several times. After my lumpectomy, I supposedly had positive margins. After he reviewed my pathology, I not only was able to avoid a mastectomy, but also radiation and tamoxifen.

He not only is a world-renowned DCIS expert and pathologist, but a kind and caring doctor. He has been studying DCIS for 30 year plus years and speaks at conferences all over the world.

If you decide to consult with him, he writes up a formal written pathology report which he sends to you. You then have a 45 mnute phone conference with him where you can ask him anything. He will calculate your recurrence risk for you with and without radiation using the Van Nuys Prognostic Index.

I have recommended him to several people and no one has anything but good things to say about him.

If you want to consult with him, you can find info about him and his consult service at:

I would definitely value his opinion over any of the opinion of any local doctor.

Please send me a PM if you would like more info about Dr. Lagios or the specifics of how he helped me personally.

    Best wishes and good health,

    Sandie

Oh, never mind my question!  I spoke to him today, and he is incredible!  May I just say that if you need second opinions, consider Dr. Lagios.  I feel so much clearer now than I have throughout this whole mess!  He is AMAZING.  My surgeon was really surprised when I said I'd spoken to Dr. Lagios.  My surgeon is pretty well known himself, but he said, "Dr. Lagios is a very important and famous physician."  I'm taking all of his advice, and it coincides with the advice of the best physicians I've had here, so that's fantastic.  What a great thing to have that service available. It's sort of just saved my life, psychologically at least!  (and, no, I don't work for his PR service...)
