    Hi alenick

I just had a lumpectomy for dcis--mine did not have clear margins and I am opting for a unilateral skin sparing mastectomy with immed reconstruction.  This surgery has not yet been scheduled.  I am wondering why your bilateral mx was scheduled for 10 weeks out?  Just curious (I will have my next appt with the plastic surgeon on Wed and trying to imagine when I will have the mx).

    thanks

    Hello,

I had to wait 10 weeks because of scheduling, hope yours is quicker.

    Hi,

I also had a lumpectomy prior to choosing to go ahead with a bilateral mastectomy with reconstruction. My lumpectomy was March 24, my mastectomy was May 12. I decided to go ahead with the mastectomy due to having a large amount of tissue removed during lumpectomy, an additional diagnosis of LCIS, an MRI which showed extensive DCIS, but primarily due to praying for direction. I never had peace about radiation and taking tamoxifen. Now, I don't have to do either and am so glad I made that decision. In process of reconstruction. I have no regrets and no worries about it returning. Hope yours goes well and you reach some sort of peace about your decision.
