Er/PR Results - biopsy vs. final path

Hi Ladies,

Hope I am posting this question in the right place.  My ER/PR results were +.  My ER was highly positive with my core biopsy result.  They did not re-check it with the final pathology when they did the lumpectomy.  It just says "tested at another facility, positive."  Should I insist on a re-test of Er/Pr of the final pathology tumor?

At my core biopsy I was 8 weeks post partum and lactating.  Does anyone know if that has anything to do with the ER level on the tumor?  Of course, I am questioning everything right now.  I am thinking of getting a second opinion of the slides at another facility.  I guess since I work in the medical field I am leery of trusting someone so completely with these things.

In-cognito - My hormone receptor status was also determined from the core biopsy and not tested again after surgery.  I'm not sure whether just having had a baby would affect the receptor status of the tumor...your doctor could tell you.   About 80% of BC is hormone receptor positive and it's not a totally bad thing because it gives you another very effective treatment option to fight with!   Best of luck to you.  Patty
