Hello Everyone,

I would greatly appreciate your opinions on what you would do if you had my family history and found to be positive for brca 1.

My family history with Breast Cancer specifically is very unusual. On my Mothers side of the family, 7 of 11 children died of Breast Cancer, in their late 30s and mid 40s. My Grandmother died of BC, three days after my Mother died(she was in her mid 30s). My sister next 2 yrs older then me had BC and has recovered. She didnt go thru the surgery fo a complete DM.

In the 1970s, my Mothers family lived in Binghamton, NY or surrounding areas at the time of their death. There was a study done on my family to research why so many came down with cancer, those  results can not be located nor does anyone know what the findings were.

Im 45 this year and was told last year that I am brca +, and im the only one that has had this test done. My sisters feel they would not go thru with it regardless. I feel its worth it bc I want to reduce the chances of getting this disease as much as possible. I would rather go thru this then have to deal with radiation and chemo.

What do you all think about me and my family history? Would you get the surgery or watch it?

Thanks so much!!!!
