I have IDC stage 2, 2 nodes out of 6 positive, grade 3, ER +. The surgeon in Denver wants to take more nodes. My surgeon in WY took 6 and she likes to see 10, so she wants to do another surgery. I feel terrible. I'm feeling so betrayed by my body. What do you all think?  Rachel

    Hi Rachel,

How frustrating!! Did the new surgeon have any rationale for wanting 10 nodes, or is that just an arbitrary number she prefers?  It seems to me that it would all be dependent on individual characteristics rather than a certain number.  For me, they found a clump of tangled and stuck together nodes, so they took it out along with the sentinel node.  It turned out to be 9 total.

I think we all get that feeling of being betrayed by our bodies.  I think you should try to get more clarification about exactly why they want more nodes and if/how your treatment would be affected by the results of further node dissection.

    Take care!
