Anyone try accupuncture for fatigue?

Options

Hi everyone...I finished radiation 4 months ago...I've been on Tamoxifen since March 1st....The past month or so I have been EXTREMELY tired (I did not have chemo).  My blood count was good, I am getting my thyroid checked tomorrow.  I am not depressed at all.  I have started to eat healthier and walk a mile a day.  I sleep a very sound 8 hours a night.

Coffee, energy drinks, B vitamins...nothing is helping this fatigue.  I am desperate...have any of you tried accupuncture for fatigue??  Any other suggestions??

Thanks in advance!

Wendy, I thought it helped my fatigue, hot flashes (a little), insomnia, and back pain

    Wow...thanks for the fast reply.

I found a place that charges $90 on the consult and $65 after that.  How often did you need to get it done?

    Wendy,

My sister encouraged me to see an acupuncturist after I was diagnosed.  She thought it would calm me down and it did.  I've continued to go on a monthly basis and it seems to help with anxiety and stress.  I've also had some neck problems (not cancer related) which seemed to be helped by acupuncture.  I have not had the tiredness that you describe, but I would give it a try.  I really think that it can help with a lot of issues.  I find it really relaxing.  The $90/$65 is actually slightly less than I pay.  I do send the receipts to my insurance and they cover a portion of it.  Good luck; I hope it helps!

Wendy: I find accupunture to be very helpful. I started going right before my second chemo and have continued once a week. My dr. specializes in oriental medicine and volunteers at a well know cancer center. I had far less side effects after going to see him. He treats me for nausea, fatigue, and insomnia.

Some insurance companies will cover accupuncture if it to treat chemo, you just have to be specific when you talk with them.

    One love, Jackie

I go every 1-2 weeks.  However, that is not necessarily the norm.  What mine told me is try a few weeks, you'll usually know if it works for you.  Some will come every week, some a few times a year, everyone is different but they know what they need
