Hi just a follow up.  I had my lumpectomy today with sentinel node removal.  I am surprised that I am in no pain.  Well, we'll see tomorrowUndecided

I have two long incisions about 10 cm, one across the areola and another one near the axilla.  My cousin who is also a nurse came to visit me and I showed her the incisions.  She noticed an opening about 2 x 2 cm right under the axilla.  I called the doctor and wants to see me tomorrow, he didn't understand what I ment over the phone.  But he told me "Good news,of course, we need to wait for the pathology, but everything was removed".  I am so happy that I wanted to share this with everybody who supported me throught this wonderful website.

Anyways, my pain uncomfort is the throat because I had to be intubated (I am a rather large girl) and according to the anesthesiologist I need to be intubated.

Thank you everybody.  I will keep posting with more news.

Maria

That's great, I'm glad it went so well! I didn't have any pain either, ever again after either surgery... definitely wasn't expecting that! How did your surgeon know everything was removed? I had asked mine if the margins could be checked while I was still under, in case he needed to get more, but he said that with DCIS it takes a couple of days... oh well, it sounds like you're home-free so congrats!!

Actually they won't know until the pathology comes back, but according to the surgeon it  was a large area in a difficult place, but he thinks everything was removed.  That's what he said, and you know how it is, you cling to any piece of good news you hear. Last night I took a Percocet and today I feel loopy.

    Thanks for writting.
