    I drank a sip of a protein drink once.....yuck. I think excess is the key here. And people do not read the labels. Too much of a good thing is not good. IMHO, protein drinks have their place, and if taken in moderation, might benefit. That's just me.

    Are you buying ready made shakes? If so look at the ingredient list and nutritional information.

    If you are making your own protein shakes with natural sources of protein plusfresh  fruits or vegetables you can make them as healthy as you wish, because you have control over what you are putting into them.

    Enjoy !!!!!!!!

    I saw the article by consumer reports. Two shakes were especially high in toxic metals;

    Muscle Milk and Myoplex.

     Most of us get plenty of protein from our diet anyway. I stick with whole foods, mostly vegetarian:

    beans, nuts, seeds, fish, Greek yogurt.

    It's a total pain and time consuming, but my policy is, I just don't buy ready made foods like that.  I make my own:  this morning, I did one with coconut milk, blueberries, rhubarb, skim milk, yogurt, peanut butter, and honey.  I made enough to have for three breakfasts.  Getting 60 g of protein during the day during chemo is a major challenge, but I'm using myplate.com to help me accomplish those goals.  Variety and grazing are what is helping me get through!
