I can't imagine you're the only one! I hope someone posts soon for you!

I just bumped up a post about a chest wall recurrence.
-
I had a few tumors on my chest wall a few years ago - when they did the biopsy, the dr removed the one that was trying to burrow into my lung (and stopped the coughing I was having at the time).
Chemos have been successful in getting rid of them.

Sandy,
I was sure that I had posted a response to you, but as I review the responses, I don't see it. I too have chest mets. They are currently running vertically behind the "affected" breast down to somewhere or other. I didn't ask how many. The quantity seemed very unimportant to me at that moment. My other mets are on the outside of my lung.
For now I am continuing with the aromasin daily [been on aromasin for 4.5 yrs now] with the added fun of a monthly faslodex shot in my butt. My next shot [the second one] is on Friday. I will have blood drawn for my blood markers. My oncologist warns that this will be too soon to see if this treatment plan is working. He wants to give this three months before re-evaluating.
This is my first progression since the original diagnosis almost 5 years ago. What treatment plan are you getting?

no treatment plan that I know of takingf Femara and then checking to see if it is working, guess that is the plan.

Sandy,
Were you on the Femera before the progression or is this new to you? My onc seems committed to the aromasin, and I am going along for the ride. Clearly aromasin failed me as a single agent. He has great confidence that these two drugs will work well together.

Sandy,
I had a chest wall recurrence after bmx in 08. I was going in for port removal prior to undergoing DIEP recon and had a bothersome bump biopsied at the same time. It was a surprise of the bad sort when my surgeon called to tell me I needed to go back and have more removed to try for clear margins. Well, I did that and he was able to get it all and close the wound up. My recon was postponed and I went for scans and restaging, all the while hoping it had not gone outside a local recurrence. The scans came back and now I know it has gone to my bones. Finding out that the beast is back it a bitter pill. I hope you are doing well and get on an effective treatment for your recurrence.

thanks and no Femara before recurrence, nothing and I have a feeling it is in the bones feeling twinges in my shoulder area, thinking if it is under the pectural muscle against the chest call the bones are right there it would, but who knows not getting scanned until September I think 4 -6 months as I said....they will not do surgery cause of where the tumor is so femara is it, maintence is what a dr. said....

Sandy,
Sounds like the femara is the treatment then. Keep us posted... sounds like our oncs are taking their plans from the same play book.

just had my surgery on Friday, had a lumpectomy in 2001 and now the cancer is back in the same area, when they did the mastectomy, the tumor was partially embedded in the chest wall. Now I'm just waiting to find out what this all means. What was your thoughts on it.
