Hello Everyone,
I am not sure which forum I should be in. I was diagnosed last month after Mammo with DCIS. I chose bilateral masectomy. Left breast had multicentric DCIS on final path with .1 mm and 1 mm microinvasion (2 foci) Right breast was clear. SNB was negative. Was feeling great until they told me I had .1mm and 1 mm microinvasion. I am so scared I don't think I can do this. Waiting to see my surgeon next week. I am not even sure what Stage I am now. I am 49 years old. Any help is appreciated. God bless....Cath

Catherine you need to breathe and you have come to the right place.
Your decision to do a bilat was a good one for you. You have no node involvement which is great news!
I had a bilat on March 1, 8.5 cm of DCIS, a 0.5mm of invasion, no node involvement. I have no need for chemo because no cancer is in my system. I have no need for radiation because I have nothing to radiate and I have clear large margins. No hormone therapy because I am 53 and am 2 years past menopause. I have a 1% chance of it showing up again. Good enough for me.
Look around this site for Bessie posts on DCIS. Read as much as you can, it will calm your fears. You will get through this!! Come to this place everyday and learn, we are all here for you and we all have been where you are now. Knowledge is power, you will beat this thing, keep your head up!
Hang in there, you are in my prayers.

Take deep breaths. You can do this. You are strong and whatever type of stupidbreastcancer you have, it was found and it was found really really early. Thats great!
Okay, based on what you have written, I think you are in a pretty good place because your SNB was negative. That should mean that by doing the mastectomy, you got all the cancer cells. What comes next might be radiation or might be chemo or might be nothing. If you want more information about each of those treatments, you can look at the boards. Your doctor will be able to tell you next week. In the mean time, just take it easy and recover from your surgery.
big hugs and post all you want, whereever you want. We will be here to listen.

Thank you Beck and Monstmama.I have re-read your posts 10 times already to give me strength. Yes, my nodes were clear and the microinvasion was on the duct? or within the duct? So that is good it's early. I am just scared of all that's to come.Just when you think you are content in life, BAM!! Thank you for your inspiration. I'll let you know what I learn next week, ok? There are many, many women on this board who had a diagnosis of DCIS with microinvasion and who are doing really, really well. I am going to bump some posts from Beesie, who was in that position herself. You can get wonderful treatment advice or psychological support here.

Thank you dsj....I really need to read some uplifting posts. I just seem to be crying a lot today. thank you soo soo much...Cath ps how do i find the posts that you bump?
-
Catherine, I just "bumped" a post from you; it should be close to the top of the forum list. It doesn't talk about microinvasion, but you could search for Beesie's posts and find some there. There is also a forum where people talk about microinvasion on this board. I only had DCIS so I don't have the particular details about this diagnosis. But I know many people come here with it and do very well.
You have had the mastectomy, so that is behind you. You have clear nodes. And you had very small microinvasion. So all of that is good. You are well on your way to getting through this ordeal.

Thank you, I am trying to stay positive. The microinvasion is so small, they told me they can't even oncotype it. I meet with my doctors on wednesday of next week. I'm still not certain what a microinvasion is, but I will ask all these questions...thank you so much.
